How to improve apex legends systematically
How to improve apex from a company perspective:
Goals:
- To get people to pay money, more is better.
- To get people to stay engaged, get back into the game and feel entertained.
- Make new people feel excited or interested look what the game is all about.
How to do this:
- Ensure everyone is in a skill bracket where they have a 50% chance at winning, where their opponents are just as skilled as they are.
- Ensure people have to make impactful decisions constantly throughout the game, never must a player feel bored, alt-tab or get distracted. Achieve this by constantly closing the ring, forcing fights between teams, respawning players quickly so they can get back into the action.
- Ensure people come back because something new and exciting has been added or changed that makes them want to try something new in the game.
- Ensure that the meta is different every season, people need to be forced to explore a different part of the game if they want the best chance at winning every season.
- Ensure that the items that can be bought for money, are thing people WANT to buy, not useless filler. Such as good, cool skins, not pointless charms or stickers. Or making only bad skins, so overpriced good skins feel more special (prestige skins).
- Ensure that every part of the game is meta viable, no content should be considered unfit or out of place in ANY game mode, such as snipers not being viable in a mode or map that is only built for close-range fights.
- Ensure that characters are built on a unique power fantasy concept that is meta viable, such as caustic gassing people (but now his gas is weak and useless).
- Characters look attractive and appealing to look at, diversity representation is good, but not if it becomes ugly (rampart for example).
- Make sure characters are interesting with good and bad traits, making them morally grey and thus flawed.
- Ensure that the art style of the characters, menu, map etc. complement each other, not contradict one another and feel out of place.
