How to make Octane a team player

His jump pad is useless in Ranked and Tournaments since you are so vulnerable in the air so let's fix that.

Octane is the most aggro legend and he loves fire so let's build on that and make going aggro a viable strategy in higher skilled games.

Jump pads should emit fire and turn those who jump on them into fireballs that take either no damage or very little damage when hit. Upon landing you give off a stun effect which has a radius of 10 meters or so.

You would turn into a fireball a bit into the air and not instantly to avoid exploits.

We could consider making fireballs break Gibbys dome.

This would make Crypto a great synergy with Octane and maybe give room for other team compositions than Gibby, Wraith and Bloodhound.

I promise you this is a great idea.

    @ZeptikkHue I've always considered Octane to be an aggressive risk taker so putting him in a bulletproof bubble makes him seem.... soft.

    Maybe it makes sense balance wise but it just feels dumb when I consider his personality.

    It's still risky to attack. What's dumb is having an ultimate that is basically useless in a team game. I know the devs plan to add two options to the jump arch, but it will still be almost useless in ranked.

    You could make it so anyone jumping on it gets free adrenaline, but it would not be as useful as getting some protection. (You would get the adrenaline boost on land if the jump was far enough)

    I think octane is an aggressive legend, that mostly players use because it takes high risk for a push or third party.. His stim makes him faster than anyone else. He reach the fight faster, now if two squads are fighting and suddenly octane came to third party them and being octane as my main, octane is mostly successful in killing some of them. When they realise they are having a third party, they fire back. Now here is main thing, octane when enter fight was in full shield and health, he has 80% chance to kill those who were fighting each other and was injured. Now if somehow they fire back to octane, having a full shield is still the benefit octane have.. As far your buff idea, octane will make third parties ridiculous because after knocking 2 of them octane must get some damage, so he then run away in a fireball and takes no damage during air.. He land on a safe place, recharge his shield and push back. This will be the most annoying third parties he will then do..

    Using his ultimate for defence would then work similarly to how Wraith's tactical works, but he would not be able to do it as often because of the longer cooldown. He does not have to be invincible like wraith either as fireballs could have 50% damage reduction or something.

    Point is, Octane is useless in Ranked. Why do you think pros never chose him?

    If anyone have any better ideas for making Octane a team player then please let me know, but chances are you don't, because this idea is perfect, it's just a matter of balance tweaking it after play testing.
