You are doing the right thing. No silly computer game is worth causing you real life stress and frustration (unless its your job) and I cant for my life understand people who keep playing a game they obviously hate more than they love, especially not grown adults.. I sometimes take breaks from this game, sometimes one split, sometimes a full season and then check in too see if the things thats bothered me have been fixed etc.

@Balladalidila The magic word why people play games they hate is addiction

Yeah you are right but I would assume that the addiction is to the small but continuous dopamine- and adrenaline kicks you get from playing and that is easy replaceable with another game or activity.

I never once got a dopamine high from a video game no matter how audacious the win. I hate losing, but that doesn't mean I love winning. I know too much about video games to take any real joy from a "win."
No, I would call it, for most of us, just good old-fashioned co-dependence. I don't play for a high. I play because I've always played and I am a creature of routine. I try to keep it low-stakes because, as you say, one habit can be easily replaced with another. And I find video games to be somewhat less debilitating and more socially acceptable than, say, alcohol or gambling.
