Initial thoughts on Solo mode, what are your thoughts?

I was able to play solos for a couple hours tonight so this post may be a little premature. More interested on what you all think, but here it goes...

Overall, after figuring out the best way for me to to play, I liked solo mode even though many times it had me saying "what the heck, this is dumb!" Like the time Pathfinder lazered me while hiding out on a ledge about 20 Apex meters above me (this happened a few times).

Liked:

No more random teammate nonsense!

Different game style that favors more deliberate, even pace vs fast paced uber aggressive play style.

Ability to have more 1v1 battles that help players improve shooting/movement/etc.

The shorter ring closing times to keep the pace from being too slow = boring.

The loot seemed to be better overall, although whenever I dropped in a hot/busy zone still seemed to be really unlucky with loot (actually 1st to die on one such occasion, 60th/out of 60, nice!)

No more random teammate nonsense (this needs repeated)!

Dislikes:

Having to play uber paranoid in an attempt to avoid getting lazered by players camping out in every "nook and cranny"

Not having teammates to help locate and mark enemies in general, not just the campers. Similar to 1st dislike....just makes the game a bit more tedious.

The game is really choppy/laggy after landing, moreso than before.

What are your thoughts on solo mode?

@xIronFist42x Only played 5 matches so I’ll give mine later. But 1 good thing I’ve seen... non of that, ‘hey here’s an enemy at 200m distance, so keep your eye out’ ping resulting in firing from the so called ‘teammates’... you gotta love that... unless you don’t. Non of that in solo’s

Interesting gameplay.
Situational awareness & map positioning are even more important.
Though if played optimally I suspect it suffers from the exact same problem as ranked; camping.
Sure, killing someone is a great way of gearing up, but the same can be achieved by looting others' kills.
Unless you're absolutely sure there's no one around to third party, it's better not to engage. (Unless you're the one third partying ofc)
Maybe for solo, gunfire and explosions should not carry as far.
I definitely want to see it become permanent; it's a great way to play when your regular buddies aren't around. Far less frustrating than soloing with randoms.
Class balance is shot to hell, but the badges requiring we use all the classes go some way to keeping the meta sane. (I was honestly expecting maps literally covered with the zip lines from 60 Pathfinders!)

FREAKING AMAZING! i hope respawn put solos permanently and maybe add RANKED with it.. REAL BATTLE ROYALE EXPERIENCE 10/10 !

@TheJumpingJawa Agreed, the optimal way to play seems to be campy by default with very paranoid like engagements....after a couple hours it felt like that was the best strategy.

Good point on map awareness too, got behind the 8-ball numerous times with poor map awareness and it didn't ever end well 😁.

I honestly started with Bangalore and switched to Pathfinder about an hour in. Surprised not to see more PFs too....

@Koochi-QLol, my wife was watching a bit and I told her it was way harder to spot enemies in solo. She was like, "hey where's those enemy (pings)??

I guess that should be considered a net positive 😁

@Kayn-x-ChavezI like the idea of ranked/balance matchmaking in solos too (just not that good still, below avg for sure). What strategy do you use, how are you typically playing in solos? Super aggressive with lots of battles, campy, mixture?

I am enjoying it. I would like to see some new loot added to the map. Knockdown shields are pointless so get rid of them and replace them with something helpful in solo mode. Maybe some type of shield like Gibraltar.

Honestly, i've been playing solo more aggressively...a lot players seem to be of the mindset of "everyones gonna camp so i will too" more often than not when you all out push them they don't expect it.
The utter lack of wattson in solo has breathed new life into thermite grenades for me, theyre a viable anti camping tool again.
