It's a nice idea, they've even done a little of it with their tournament set up, which allows 60 players and 5 spectators. The problem though is that it's not practical to have in game.
You're not the only one that would like to spectate friends, they're others. You could maybe 80 people in a server, 20 being spectators, but that would definitely impact the server performance.
There would need to be a limit, but at that point what's really the point? What if a big streamer has people that want to spectate them? Sever would crash no doubt.

I agree with what you're saying, it just won't happen. The devs are a part of a studio, Respawn, and Respawn is a studio under EA, using EAs servers. The servers we have are 20hz while most games run on 60hz, the servers are this bad on purpose. My point is EA will not spend the time or money needed to improve their servers to implement this kind of feature. It's outside of Respawns control.
It's a nice idea, but EA would never give the green light.

But, I hope they implement it man.. we need to be optimistic and ask them what we want to be implemented in the game!!
