Is there a reason delay was added when switching shields/health?

So I've noticed ever since season 5 started, all of a sudden if you change from a small shield cell to a shield battery and press the button to use the item (I'm on ps4 so in this case its "up" for me), sometimes it forgets you even selected the shield battery and decides to apply the small shields. Is there a reason this 1-2s delay was implemented?

This IS game breaking because in apex every second counts in a gunfight.

This happens regardless of if you are trying to select syringes/medkits/phoenix kits/shield batteries/shield cells.

Please fix this asap as it is also annoying as hell.

    @MoNosDirtyGaming Yeah that's gotta be rough for controller.

    I play on m/k and deleted that key, so I just hit 5(syringe) 6(medkit) 7(cell) 8(bat) 9(phoenix). No more messin with that wheel mid fight. 4 now selects grenades.

    It's crazy cause I see pro m/k players still using that wheel and select wrong item mid fight, wasting precious seconds.

    @Pure_Funk_Nugget I've never actually ever experienced accidentally punching like that. I believe it is another hidden delay added on purpose to just help the new players. It doesn't seem like a big issue but when you're in ranked and have to micro-manage your heals/shields and constantly go to pop a batt and it decides to pop a shield cell 2-3x in a row when you're mid gunfight, it is actually horrible.
