A quality update thats been tested to work is better than a string of non-sense updates related to skins and weapon damage changes etc.
Sorry folks but we live in 2019... well I'll just say it like this. We live in post ps3/xbox era. Lemme explain that sentiment.
Back in the old days of gaming, coding for games was done minutely. Everything was packed with testing and compressing. Loads of things couldn't fit in the final medium was it a cd-rom/cartridge or whatever. Since blu ray actually where devs didn't have to fret about space on the medium, it was more likely to be indifferent about old assets still in the final build (obviously not in the gane but as files). There's been some articles surrounding this too and it's been acknowledged by studios. Hence why some games that look gorgeous have a really low digital imprint while others require a 75+ GB space on consoles.
So going to the real point. Times have changed. At first devs could still 'take their time' making a game, but as the interwebs progressed, so did the outspokenness of people (gamers). They want it fast, beautiful and to live up to expectations which is fine and all. But if consumers want it fast. Investors/stakeholders in companies want the same and they wanna see dividens. So what does a gaming company have to do to keep both them and investors happy? Churn out content after content, hope that it releases well and fix any problems when they arise/from release date.
Don't believe me? Why do you think so many games have free dlc expansions or so many promises before RD but on release those things aren't 'in-game-yet'?
Why do some games feel like they're in beta phase and consumers are the QC personnel?
So to answer your question, in my opinion. People just want fast content all the time nowadays and because their vocalization is backed up by others and seen across the net, the devs can get pressured by both sides to deliver. Yet if they don't do it, ppl will get mad. It all depends how heavily invested (monetary, timewise, resource-wise) you are in a game. To make a much stated argument, it's a free-to-play game so they actually owe nothing to us except provide a 'playable' game, yet you can state from consumer side that without a playerbase, there'd be no game. So for some 3 months may be too long, for others it might not be
I'm not a coder or someone affiliated with the game making industry. Just an observer to the progress that's been going on for years.
