Keeping people from leaving pub games for no reason

Imo people leaving pub games for various reasons (just insta-quitting to protect their k/d's, they didnt get the character they wanted, the jumpmaster didnt land exactly where they wanted them to and so on...) has become an increasing issue in the last couple of seasons, and for me personally it takes away from my enjoyment of the game quite alot and i dont think its good for the health of the game. When a player decides to leave before they are dead, before their banner's timer has run out the only ones who are affected negatively are the ones left behind, while the person who leaves isnt affected at all - thats not exactly fair. I think it would be better if everytime you leave a game (even if you leave after getting downed but before dying) it should count as a death in your stats, idk how much that would impact people leaving but at least they wont have that reason to leave to protect their k/d's anymore. And my next suggestion ive realized is somewhat controversial and so it could probably never be put into the game, but i think it could be good to put in a 5-10sec leaving penalty for when you leave a pub game before dying/before your banner's timer runs out. Just enough for it to be a little annoying, just enough to make people think for a second or two before they leave a game. Sometimes the short penalty might be worth it and sometimes not.

  • @PsychedelicC-IMK Players cant be bothered staying to be revived. Its boring, plain and simple. Players also quit simply because others quit. Running as Lifeline towards a downed enemy and the box just pops. They insta-leave. Apex is the most quitted game I have ever played. Players quit to deny sweats more kills. If teammates are jumped and insta-killed, they leave cause they know they dont have a chance and its more satisfying to deny them the kill. So the game got some problems with player behavior, I agree.
  • @PsychedelicC-IMK They refuse to add solos because it is ‘’unhealthy for the game’’ when in reality not having solos is even more unhealthy because when you put players who would rather be solo into teams naturally they are Just going to instantly leave in most cases

No Fill was a nice addition but playing against teams isn’t ideal as a solo, during solos there was maybe 2 players teaming together but using no fill you are playing against like 30 sets of teamers working together ._.

They can use the excuse that lifeline can’t revive anyone but there are 17 different legends to choose from... if you are playing lifeline thats on you but personally i actually like Lifeline during solos for her health drone

Nope, still gonna leave. If they fixed sbmm I'm sure alot of leaver problems would be magically fixed though.

  • Yeah waiting for being revived is boring and its too easy to just leave and q up for another game instead since there is no negative consequence to doing that - which is why i think they should add some consequence to it, like a short second long penalty, or at least remove the external motivation of not having your deaths count in your stats if you just leave fast enough. Thats the only thing they can and should do as this is a player behaviour issue for the most part.

I personally didnt care for solos at all and idk if theres enough players who would like to play solo for a permanent solo mode to work at all - the q times would probably be horrible and it would take away players from the team modes and make those q times longer as well, Apex is first and foremost a team game and its not made to play solo - but for those who want to play solo the no-fill option is the best thing the devs could have added in. If you choose no fill you know what you're signing up for, you know you will be 1v2 or 1v3 or 1vmultiple squads- is that ideal? not for most players, but its your choice. So my point is adding a solo mode wouldnt fix the issue of people leaving pub games at all, the people who want to play solo can already do that - the issue is people who specifically choose to play in the team modes but still leave and how can we lessen that issue?

  • How exactly would adjusting sbmm affect the leaving issue? I dont see what you mean. I dont always love the sbmm but i recognize that its a necessary feuture in a game like this.

They assume allowing the lowest skilled players to be matched up with the top tier players to be okay instead of having a system that at least tries to gather people of similar skill level. I'm guessing they want to rack up their K/D or have better "big plays" against lower skilled players.

@xDarkomantis No, quite the opposite. I'm fine with having two questionable skilled teammates, but then there should NOT be 3 stacking preds/masters/diamonds/even plat teams in my lobby. Every team should then consist of two players with a malfunctioning shoot button and one who actually shoots at moving objects. If I get killed why stay looking at my teammates doing nothing? Or if my teammates insta die, leaving me to 1v15 all the 3 stackers after they land us in Fragment. What's the point? Next game, ty. The frustrations of sbmm makes me leave more than anything.
