@Midnight9746 I actually had a similar experience and was wondering exactly the same.
Another thing I see players do is to run into your face and also somehow manage to shoot straight through shield, like they are on my screen right in front of me.
Also, I am sure I am not getting shot from the sides.
It used to be much better in the previous season(s), but now indeed picking up purple or gold is in many cases useless.
