Leaving Ranked Matches with no 3rd teammate

A friend and I tried running a ranked match. He just got on so it was the first match of the night for us. We load into the legend selection screen with just me and him so we decide to quit right when the legends are done being selected to avoid going into the game handicapped. Why do we still receive a 10 minute ban for deciding not to start the match handicapped? It’s not that big of a deal just annoying and I believe no ban should be implemented if we dodge the match in that manner. No 3rd player was shown at any point so we’re basically given the option of running the match handicapped, 3v2 every fight or take a ban.

    @HellaSlothyy They have no feature to implement the third teammate leaving/not connecting prior to the game starting, so this happens. They'll most likely address it in the near future, for now I'd say just try your hardest to play as a duo and adapt to the chunky legends (gibby/caustic) and pray that you get enough kills so you aren't punished for it, usually though after you die there's a loss forgiveness since you didn't have the third teammate. It's the only work around I know (I've loaded in solo and had to fight everyone on my own, you know how that goes..)

    no penalty if it's solo, duo ranked.

    Do you mean the 3 time thing and then penalty when you crash or quit app? Never done it.

    You'll lose loss forgiveness for the entire season.

    @SpyrosFPS I think thats dumb af lol, I've had it where I've had no teammates when going in so i've quit and i've still been penalised and had to wait 30mins just to play again, stupid af.

    You can't leave match after selection/champion screen but you can leave when dropship starts. I did it today, i was solo.
