Sniper rifles in this can only knock down players when you are thirsting other teams. We all know how difficult to do the sniper knockdown challenge. Let alone kill with them
One way to buff the sniper rifles is to make damage inflicted by them increases drastically as the range increases, to the extent it can one-shot kill with a sentinel from over 150 meters.
actually, the biggest problem with sniper rifle - except the Trash Rifle and the Triple Take, is that Respawn has an insane idealogy of making sniper playstyle as obsolete as possible by making them has the lowest projectile velocity and flick the hardest when being shot, to encourage the toxic braindead "W key everything" playstyle. Just look at the Bow-kekw and moving the TT - the only Sniper that is actually usable in the game, into care package which makes absolutely no sense and you will understand immediately how much Respawn hates sniper.
While I do agree with you the sniper needs some massive buff so actual "Sniper" playstyle can be a thing or they are just a waste of slot of another shotgun rusher, buffing their damage to a ridiculous as you suggest isn't right and it would make the game unbearable, just like how the Bow-kekw was release so broken that for a week or two everyone is cosplaying as Hanzo. The real thing sniper rifle need is increasing projectile speed so they can hit people more often, due to the fact that almost all legend in the game - except Fortified one like Caustic and Gibbie, has small a very slimmy and thinny hitbox, which make shooting them from any distance a very difficult task and you better off just spray your auto rifle gun onto them.
On console is got to the point when people don't even bother picking up the kraber unless they have an input converter with mouse and keyboard
I agree, that they need speed buff. Sniper rifles in this game often look like a catapult - you fire, and observe where your shot will land after a couple of seconds. This is pretty poor.
They still can be useful though - charged up sentinel with rampart amped cover can be quite effective. 🤔
And they drain shields, if you manage to hit, so confidence of teams is weakening.
Looks like EA needs to read some books on the topic, or watch less hunger games or game of thrones...
An average compound bow has a projectile velocity of about 300-340 feet per second, while small arms have a muzzle velocity up to 10 times of that.
I'm assuming bullets have less projectile drop at the same distance due to their velocity to weight ratio.
Apex has it completely swapped up. Looks like they made this bow thing because they were lazy doing nothing (one legend and some pretty minor map changes are laughable), and just throw this weapon in, unbalanced, untested, unreal.
I mean come on, sniper rifles are useless when shooting in a range of 300 meters, takes almost a second to impact, which should be their optimal range, and the bullets drop like they weigh a ton, while bowKEK lands faster and drops less.
Come on, respawn, read some damn physics books!
@TheApexLegendNubPeople mainly use sniper rifle as a mid-range shotgun from 100~ meters, mostly thanks to the Sentinel with its charged shot mechanic and the TT with easy and forgiving wide spread - before it was taken away from us. And there is no way you could win against any auto rifle from this range - unless you can magically headshot them 2-3 shot in a row while being shot at and your aim will flick crazy like it's about to crash the dogecoin market
Arena is a whole different META and play style, you either steamroll people with W key or play a war of attrition to burn their resource. Also because Arena playground are much smaller and you have no need to worry about 3rd party, sniper is actually useful in there.
