Let’s talk Ranked Split for Weekend Warriors

I just got done reading the patch notes for Season 6. 

It sounds like the devs are really happy with the ranked split system and it seems like they feel like it rewards more ranked play. 

I want to share my experiences and perspectives as a weekend warrior type player of kind of the opposite experience. 

I’ve been playing Apex exclusively (with a little TF2 - thank you Respawn. You make games I want to play!) since launch. I am a business owner and dad, so I don’t have a lot of time to play games, but what time I can get, I pour all of it into Apex. I have spent probably $200 or so on the game because I love it and want to support the dev team. 

The first ranked season (formerly series), I was in Gold IV, but in every season since, I’ve been in Plats. I’m good enough to make it into Diamond because I play with friends that are Diamonds, but I simply haven’t had enough time to grind to get into Diamond, because every single season, I get demoted back a full rank and a half. In the early season, all of the other similarly ranked people get demoted too, so the games are sweaty and hyper competitive and it’s really difficult to advance without a premade squad, which I tend to have less often than not. 

I find myself getting frustrated because I simply don’t have the *time* to get into Diamond. I certainly have the skill (Lord knows I get into regular lobbies with enough preds to know I’m doing okay, skill wise).

Given the latest patch notes, does this mean I’m an anomaly? Am I alone in this weird world of wanting to rank up further but only really being able to have enough time to play ranked to be able to top out in Plat IV each season? 

I’d love it if we could consider getting rid of the split again? If you can only get into these upper ranks by being consistently good, what difference does added time make? Shortness of time is the only limiting factor in that, yeah?

Anyway, thank you for making an amazing game, y’all. I appreciate your consistent willingness to hear people out. I’m just feeling a little crazy for having the exact opposite experience in ranked from what y’all are describing in these latest rounds of patch notes. 

Also, please nerf Wraith more before you lay any more nerfs on my roboboi. I’ve been playing him since his hit box was trash because I love his movement and it gives me a different way of excelling in this game than just being a laser beam (which is why I love CTF in TF2 so much). I’m still maining Path. Just don’t want to see him get nerfed even more into the ground. TY!
