Ok, let's talk about it 🙂
The big issue with SBMM is that it wasn't here from the start, it should've been added at least before the stats page to the game. No SBMM + smurfing allowed for a lot of unbalanced matches where skilled players built inaccurately high stats by dropping like wolves among sheep.
I don't get players complaining about not being able to play relaxed. Apex is, by definition, a fast paced fps about survival, not an adventure game where you can stare at the environment for hours and pause at any time for a breather. This is like complaining about not being able to stretch comfortably in an F1 car and take it for a Sunday drive on urban streets.
How does a skilled player define fun? 10+ kills/ game? If so, then for each player having fun, there are up to 10 others that don't. Should Respawn cater to the player that is already hooked, has probably spent a considerable amount of money by now and enjoyed many hundreds of hours of playtime in return, or to the other 5-10, that aren't even hooked yet and will probably leave before spending any money, because of getting stomped again & again ? I'd say the answer is obvious.
Your recommendation suggests that only some of the meat should be thrown to the lions. The only fair choice would be to let "the meat" decide if it wants to be thrown as food for the apex predators. Some may want to see how fast they "get chewed, others may risk it in order to play with their favorite streamer/ highly skilled friend or to get to spectate highly skilled games live, so maybe a "brown pants on/off" checkbox should be added to the game 🙂.

It seems again like people haven't or did not read my post fully. Perhaps you should read what I wrote before you decided to write out everything you did. Firstly, this is a discussion. Not a complaining session or a place for you to lie and be passive-aggressive. There is a difference between what you describe as playing 'relaxed' and experiencing the game in a casual, less competitive way (Unranked). I work for my kills as much as or more than others and you implying that I'm just a hungry wolf looking for more kills or nonsensically complaining is a lie and deliberately misconstruing the entirety of my post in a very passive-aggressive way. I do not know if you have an issue with predator players, but you don't seem to get that right now, there is no casual experience in public matches for me. As I described the average skill level in my public unranked matches tends to be minimum platinum minimum, that meaning it tends to be higher. Most squads tend to be made of a pre-made party, meaning three people. I am unable to solo queue without severely outplaying an enemy team to win. I cannot play with most of my friends, they are unable to fight people that I fight because they are not as skilled as I am.
Let's talk about fun since you brought it up. 🙂 I don't know who you are talking with, but I never said getting 10+ Kills a game was my or anyone else's definition of fun? That's not my argument at all. And I fail to see how it could even be implied from my post. So I'm just going to ignore that argument from you. Despite you seeming to have responded to my recommendation, your response here seems a bit daft and is making this a black and white issue of either caring for people who play more and pay for skins versus newer players. This issue is not black and white, and I think my recommendation is a way to approach the grey area in the discussion about changing SBMM. I'm also not even arguing what you seem to be, so how about we stay on the same track? I said the primary goal of SBMM is to encourage a space for newer players to not feel intimidated by players with a better understanding of the game. I never disagreed with that goal. I think it is good to encourage new players time to develop enough skills and game sense to enter higher tier lobbies. But I'd also love for there to be no SBMM so that I could play with even the newest of players, on my team or as an enemy (I really like playing with new people.). If Respawn prioritizes the newest player's experience and I cannot play with or against them, I understand. However, I do not think this current model of SBMM is the way to do it. It will only inevitably punish people as they get better at the game. I made that clear with my statement where I said "You get better, or just die.".
To be honest, I don't think you understand how ironic your recommendation is or that you read mine. Letting people choose what experience they want already exist. It's called ranked. If Respawn does want to prioritize designing a space for new players to grow in casual matches and keep them, I would say SBMM is an inefficient system given how I feel and it will inevitably wear down on everyone as they get better at the game. I offered a recommendation on that basis, I want to enjoy this game with all my friends and with random people.
- 6 years ago@JiboTV Don't take my reply personal. I don't know how you play, so I'm mostly referring to players I've seen or have been teamed up with. Also, I'm not new to this forum, I have read hundreds of topics about people's fun being ruined by various things.
Before SBMM becoming the plague, most complaints were about teammates lacking skill or not getting involved properly in the game. That sounded like a cry for more sweats, honestly. The actual irony is that there seems to be too many of them now.- 6 years ago
All they need to do is get rid of being able to see player stats, other than the level they are at...problem solved!
You're welcome...If anyone needs me, I'll be in the back tossing bills...

@JiboTVYou took mine and @DoYaSeeMe’s posts too personally I understand your mad about SBMM but we are just saying what we see other players say or what we see based off of streamers and others views not necessarily your own
Like Im not saying that you are upset your not popping those 20-25+ kill games every other game but some players out there probally are upset about that especially streamers who worry about their reputation but also content for their channel like staycation mentioned in a video how he wants to get good content for us to watch and how sweaty the matches are currently but wether he wins or loses its still great content to watch imo even if its only about 10-15 kills compared to those 27+ or so kill games he usually gets
I also see your point of view where your unable to solo queue or play with your friends anymore and are just not enjoying the game at all anymore I do agree something needs fixed but I also don’t fully agree with players that are able to get 20+ kill games every other match to be in casual without some form of ranked play in casual either I want everyone to have a good gaming experience but not exactly sure what needs to be done to do so
Once again Im not necessarily saying you are one of those doing 20-30 kill games every match, i know nothing about you, but Im sure alot of predators or plat/diamonds are able to do so and that dosnt happen often in the current SBMM for whatever rank division Im in people usually win with around 10 kills max occasionally 10-15 I mean I won a game as kill leader with 7 and 9 kills so its not any wheres close to how it was before SBMM was implemented but those 7-9 killl games were just luck for me I still die alot in the new matchmaking against players around my skill level- 6 years ago
I posted this around but lets go again.
The most obvious problem is when i get into higher tier lobbies i get 2 teammates with lower then 50 lvl which becomes useless at this level. So basically the game expects me to 1v3 the whole lobby of equally skilled players which in most cases impossible.
I understand low tier players frustration about constantly getting smacked by 20k kill players but ranked is here for that as well. If you want to be in the same skill bracket you can just go there or you can be matched against anyone it depends on your luck. But still i think the low tier bracket should be 1-30 lvl matchmaking and 30-100 lvl, this said if the game sees a (ex.)15k/d 1-100 player, send them up so they wont have encouragement to smurf. Then you will have the players maybe not the same skill level but same experience level, so if you are bad at this point you should spend 5 min of your daily time to aim train or watch a stream to improve yourself.
Level 100+ should be just random matchmaking or with the new level system which caps at 500 you can seperate a little more once you look at the data and you see you have enough player to seperate brackets.
For me the most important failiure at SBMM is the players that are in between being a top tier player and above average player ( which is me ). Here is my situation at this game; I barely reached Diamond rank mostly solo queing and when i reach diamond i see fully stacked predator teams ripping me apart, which is fine. I understand my skill level and i say okay i dont belong here. So i go back to normal lobbies right? Okay well the same thing happens in my normal lobbies, i am being matched with top tier players again with my lvl20-50 teammates which i can not enjoy, its not because i cant stomp on people, its because i cant kill anyone!
Imagine this; you are playing a single player game which you love to play. You are progressing slowly and getting better and the next day you want to play the game says you can only player the most hardcore mode in the game. You say okay lets go, then you get destroyed and there is no way for you to progress in the game. So will this game be fun for you anymore? You get in, get destroyed and you cant progress an inch.. How long are you going to play this?
At this point you decide to do smurf and that is the only way if you want to play the game. Then you destroy the newcommers and low tier lobbies. Once Sbmm throws you to higher tier players, go ranked. Destroy bronze to plat lobbies. And this is not fair for the playerbase, its not fair for me either (Its the only way i can enjoy the game meanwhile i have no progression in my main account, i cant use my skins but there is no other way). This is also very bad for Respawn because then i wont be buying skins for my smurf account for sure and i will not be buying new skins for my main account because i cant even play.
Then there is the point which i cant play with my real life friends because their skill level varies. I have a friend who is hearing impaired, he cant hear with his right ear and even though he cant play very good, i love to play with him. Now i cant because he gets destroyed in every single game with me. He cant find people on discords as well because of his handicap, now i either have a smurf to play with him and not leave him alone or i just dont play. This is also not fair.
I agree that solution to this is not easy once it comes to playing with your friends. Still, i think it would be fair if we were just thrown in a random lobby with 100lvl+ and no sbmm. But i think you can relate to my problem.
