Lets Talk About 'Skill-Based Matchmaking'?

@DoYaSeeMeThey all want rookie average or above average players for easy wins and kills and not be stuck in those matches but they are skilled enough to be in those types of matches... we are NOT I think respawn wanted the battles to be more intense and exciting for them but better for the rest of us aswell

its much easier to learn to be a better player without them in our matches first we learn our own skill level and then start incorporating their play styles into our own gameplay overtime  

u@DoYaSeeMe Theres definitely smurfing in the new event I really dont think all these level 1s with 0 kills are just joining apex lol start making it 1 account limit per device or sonething would stop hackers from making a new one too

Let's not hijack the post off-topic and dog pile without addressing the substance of the discussion. I.E. Not "The just want to beat up bad players!", "They just want to be fed!". If you want to start a discussion outside of this one for your own concerns, you may. 

With regards to how you responded to @dlpaulson12 , @DoYaSeeMe  - 

Saying "I'd like to get more matches like these." if you don't get them is a disingenuous or ignorant argument when you do not get those matches. Do tell me what the chance of you running into a full predator squad in your games before the full implementation of SBMM. Because I can say pretty assuredly say that I did NOT run into that many. The reality was that even despite higher level players playing more than most, I rarely saw them in my matches over and over again compared to now. It is getting harder to communicate with you if I have to keep reiterating my points to explain why your ideas on the matter aren't of great substance. You also keep creating arguments that people in this thread have not made - "What I understand from your reply is that you would like rookie players like that, to get an effortless, casual win every now and then.". That is such a bad faith argument, I am beginning to think you aren't equipped to discuss this topic despite your interest in it. How about you address the points they DO make? I think you are oblivious to a big original message in my post - That good players are being punished for performing well. The idea that not wanting matches to end as dlpaulson12 just exhibited means anything close to what you just suggested is absurd when he literally told you why he is annoyed. 

Paraphrasing, the points dlpaulson12 made that I could glaze were "Most of my matches are not different from ranked play. This is an example of the types of matches I fight in. I have to fight just as hard as if I were in ranked without a reward. I think you do not understand how much harder this is on better players.". He is in no way saying that if you are bad or new that you should be fed to him or better players. He is expressing his experience with the SBMM and you seem to be purposefully misrepresenting what he said. I mentioned this before and I will get into it again. If Respawn believe that they should encourage an easier environment for new players to learn the game, then focus on the new players. My recommendation specifically focuses on the new players and attempts to prevent Respawn from turning an unranked mode into a ranked mode, ruining what a BR is, and punishing players for getting better or being better.

lower skill levels don’t get a ‘’free’’ easy win as you say remember it is OUR SKILL LEVEL ITS CHALLENGING FOR US but not impossibly overwhelming compared to facing one of you the end game is still very intense Idk players ranks I just know I still face players with 1 kill up to 8000 kills im not in a lobby with people with doodoo for brains all the time some of the players are  what I consider a bit above my skill level but not anywheres close to a predators level either alot of luck is involved aswell and positioning and abunch of other factors can change the fight

a single solo predator is all it takes to wipe a full lobby Ive seen many yt videos staycation solos all the time or sethlyy zeus soarkobi etc so SBMM semi stops that from happening, but im sure they can still do it but with less kills

@JiboTVSo in 8 hours Ive had a complete change in oppinion I hate SBMM I think its just because I drained my brain mentally playing so long today and i couldnt sleep last night so I only slept for like 4-5 hours I just can’t do any pubs after the christmas update whatever they changed messed it all up for me the players are all way beyond my skill level now... I cant do any damage like 200 tops or anything without being sniped or laserred from across the map but I think a big part of that is im mentally drained and can’t be a try hard rn and my eyes are burning honestly im ready to quit playing awhile I probally would but I gottta get the damn L star and finish the badge its at 63/75 then im probally done til season 4 or a new update I may keep farming xp in the new xmas mode though im just drained rn and officially see your point of view no way to just chill and have fun anymore I was having alot of fun when I was trying to be a sweaty wraith or my man gibralter but you can only do that for so long then SBMM sucks I just can’t play at all rn without going solo between my stupid mistakes or my teammates mistakes every round is just awful one mess up and your dead i can barely even get a kill or 2 if im lucky ._. literally feels like everyone has perfect precise aim and never miss a single shot its total bs and most everyones has perfect aim... you shoot them in the back then they just do a complete 180 spin and your lasered to practically nothing in a second... i swear these * are hacking im getting sick of it get me tf out of these lobbys and put me where I was they were hard enough these are just * and im ready to * quit this peice of * * game 

i think because I played the new event mode so much and was winning every single match pretty much for awhile it promoted me to * I can’t handle if it dosnt demote me back I quit

i think I probally did 15-20 matches highest damage was like 327... averaged 50-200 and pretty much 0 kills occasionally 1-2 idk wth they did but I can’t play against these monsters they all got 4k damage badges, the badge you get for winning as kill leader ( I have 2 of those but Im trash), 20k kill badges, etc  and 1000s of kills  and perfect precision aim....everyone my skill level gets to stay in a banner card the whole match yay, me and my teammate were practically always dead with some pro carrying us (literally carrying our banners) -.- i quit the game apex legends can kiss my big fat gibralter booty for awhile unless I wake up tomorrow and can actually play the game again when my minds rejuvenated 

i mean even after all this nonsence I stilk want SBMM, but it is currenty so BROKEN the games unplayable... idk how tf they decide your skill level but they are doing something so wrong... whatever tf they changed at the start of the xmas event needs reverted to the way it was before the xmas event that SBMM was perfect for me I could atleast get 3-5 kills rarely like 1 game out of 50 I would get 7-9 kills but then the following game i would just get my butt wooped again but the current SBMM i cant even get a kill literally people got aim bot precision with their aim in this lobby I got a controller... (on PC against M+K) bad enough against people my skill level not these crazy monsters its just impossible

i consider myself a bot, im 30 something years aold and this is the first game i have ever played on a pc. i did play playstation growing up but that was a long time ago and i wasnt good at that either!!!

i was enjoying apex alot until the new sbmm arrived. as a player that this is supposed to help, i can assure you it is not! 

i had 30 wins season 3 pre update and 1, maybe 2 since and that was dumb luck

if i want to play against ever hardening players then i will go to a ranked lobby, it is after all exactly what it supposed to be.

note: i am well and truly stuck at gold 3. (just reasserting the fact that i am not a pro player) 

please if someone from apex follows these threads count my vote AGAINST the new match making robots

Idk how tf SBMM determines ‘’skill’’ but its gotta be so BROKEN the games today are even worse than last night I mean I atleast got 500 damage on the one match i did instead of 50-200 like last night but the players all have 50-250 season 3 wins trackers... (I’ve got that many wine myself (IN THE WINTER EXPRESS MODE NOT PUBS) so I decides to go to pubs to get the 20k damage L Star and its just impossible to play now

if its not based off of wins is it based off of level.... Im level 171 now almost 172 because the EVENT awards so much xp like 7-12k a match and an ungodly ammount of battlepass xp 200k+ (I Don’t Need)

My K/D has gotta be one of the worst in apex so it sure as hell can’t be based off of K/D mines not even 1+ lmfao

Well i just looked at Season 3 Meltdown Tab and I do have 48 Season 3 wins total, but the players in pubs are impossible for me there aim just snaps on instantly even if I shoot first... its more of a run tf away and try to heal game no

EDIT: Literally the best game Ive done was punching and kicking the sh*t out of people for 400 damage... gun fights are just impossible now any mistake your dead

@WickXII only seem to do good with a R-99 tbh lately its like one of the few weapon Im pretty good at fighting the recoil on because its the only weapon i use alot really I barely won a game just now with 4 kills and 724 damage but that was with a gold shield for fast heals near the end I barely survived so popped a quick phoenix but it was so messed up my teammate and enemy had the same skin and i was confused af and got knocked lol but my teammate finished the last kill so all good thats the only decent ‘’my sklll level game’’ Ive had in awhile most of the time there way above my league now but I was also listening and pretty much knew where everyone was, and was geared up early game is where I keep dying, my K/D is so bad I die way more than i kill lmao its like 0.32 or some crap i get a game every now and then where i get 5-10 kills but usually 1-3 or 0 lol it says I got 1,623 kills and 4,994 deaths lmao but alot of those death are trolling people and messing around aswell Ive never cared about my K/D so I do stupid plays sometimes, they either work and are awesome or a total flop then rip lol when they do work its awesome though

@WickXIIve always played with randoms so thats another factor aswell I died alot trying to help them or following them to dumb plays into my death but thats vise versa they die alot helping me too its part of the game lol

I will shorten it up a little if it is too complicated. Thank you for actually expressing you had trouble understanding.

Just take it in line by line, my dude. I'm not saying you get free wins at your level? Just that you have more variance and are punished less / held to a different standard. Punished less is the keyword, because as you get better you will be punished more. The better you get, the less variance in your games, the more mistakes punish you (To the point of dying and losing.), the higher a standard you need to uphold as player be over and over. Mistakes come in the form of missing shots, not timing rotates quick enough, not healing in time, etc. If I am not playing with a competitive team, I tend to die and lose more. Not just a little, a lot. There are very rarely those characteristically fun struggles to work together, to win together. You need to be insane and / or outplay the enemy team severely to not die or lose as a solo most of the time, that or get lucky and not get a back-filled lobby where the people on your team cannot aim or have little to no game sense (Below level 50.).

If we are so focused on helping new or very low level players, why does it seem that SBMM works from a more top-down approach? As you get better, you are punished more. SBMM should focus harder on the new / lower level ranks as I recommended. SBMM shouldn't apply to the players entire experience in unranked matches. At some point it is no different than the matches one would expect from ranked games at their current skill level.

What if you were performing good enough at the SBMM rank you were at in the event or unranked and it decided to bump you up to the next ranking? 

Put simply, that is what I suspect happened. I am not looking to kick you while you're down, but without clarification from developers, I want to make it clear that this is the answer I suspect is likely. Now to go deeper into your experience, yes, most of my lobbies are like that as well, probably harder. It is hard to explain my experience through text, but I do hope in some ways you might learn from the experience you are having right now. 

Here is a thought exercise - Pretend you have a choice to go back to your previous ranking of SBMM. Flip of a switch, ting, you're back in your old SBMM ranking. Easier time aiming and fighting, better chance at surviving, less punishment for mistakes. That's how most of my friends feel, because I like playing with all sorts of people (Not just high ranking players.). They enter my lobby, they just want to flip a switch and leave due to the disparity in skill.

@JiboTVWell whatever decision they made is dumb af, if I play with R-99 and attempt to be a sweaty wraith everygame I could attempt this lobby style but I play as all characters so I can’t do these type of lobbies if its going to be like this apex legends can go to hell i will play with 6-13 yr olds on fortnite i cant even do 100 damage most games now...

I understand your point, my responses were not to dog on you. They are exploring why you are in the lobbies you are in now, what the developers could do to help us understand, etc. 🙂

@JiboTVHe asked me personally, I answered with my view. I see no issue here. But it's pretty ironic that he was "punished" with a win. Also, talking about "zoo predators" isn't at all off topic. It's the SBMM that brings them out. People are crying about k/d ratios falling around here as well.

I'd like to see people bringing queue numbers into the discussion. If a queue is 60-100, SBMM can barely have any influence. To fill a lobby with those 0.2% top players. the queue needs to stay around 30.000 at any given moment. But with queue numbers dozens to hundreds of times smaller, SBMM is barely able to separate beginners from the high skilled players.

And what makes me wonder the most is:

If their K/D has dropped, and their winrate and and and

WHY DO THEY STILL GET 100% BETTER OPPONENTS?

If they play bad, the system downgrades them automatically to lower level.

But they still pretend they get the same difficult level...

I DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!

This all all useless crying of 1% of the active players...

99% are ok with the game...
