Simply why implement SSBM if a ranked playlist already exsists? If the devs are worried about a learning curve too steep for new players they can implement a playlist similar to other games like Rainbow Six Siege where they have a playlist for those ranked below a certain level.

EA has already invested more money and staff twice, and has promoted it to one of their core games. They wouldn’t have done that if they didn’t project long term sustainability, and basically because they’ve done that, it has long term sustainability.
- @DarthVaapar Doesn't matter how much money they invest into it, if people won't play it the game dies. Just look at Anthem. EA threw a ton of money at that game and it died so quickly and now nobody wants to buy it even at a massive discount.
