- Ah, sorry. You must not speak English very well, because nobody with even a basic grasp of the language could have read these posts and replied with what you said.
Even if you know the odds of a variable outcome, wagering money [or anything valuable] to gain material goods based on the outcome is gambling. "Literally gambling".
Are you trying to imply that it's okay for big companies like EA to take advantage of people who don't know any better? What if they have a gambling issue?
Furthermore, the more of these people that get taken advantage of, the more other games are gonna include these lootboxes and microtransactions inside them to increase the profit on games. Do you not care about the cost of video games going up? What about consumer/company relations? Even single-player games are gonna start having crap like this in it if people like you don't stop being * ignorant about the subject at hand. - Lootboxes are, in fact, gambling. By the literal definition of the term;
"Wagering money or something of value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the intent of winning money or material goods."
If you can spend money on it (which you can), then it constitutes as gambling. Being free-to-play doesn't absolve the game of having an predatory shop system designed to milk players out of more and more money because PLENTY of free-to-play games have made their bed on standard shops (Like SMITE and League of Legends) that allow you to outright BUY the thing you want, no questions asked. How can you say that just because it's free, nobody can complain about it?
To many people, it wasn't free. Titanfall 3 could have been developed, but instead we got probably the most bandwagon-hopping video game that's ever been developed, and that's including Lawbreakers.
