Loss forgiveness is damaging matchmaking ranked players' experience
today i jumped into single matchmaking ranked game. in one match ,3rd player got inactive after choosing legends. I can't see disconnect icon on his banner, while he just literally do nothing until jump ship throw us out. then he dropped to a vast place. we other two try to uphold the play while we later got killed.
For the following 5mins, we two just watch him standing there, not get detected by anyone. And we can't just leave for we can't see his disconnect icon. in the round 2 he died out of the ring and we finally can leave. At squad eliminated page we finally see that guy have disconnection icon. and he got +20 for the squad rank.(he is Bronze IV, and we two are both Silver)I got +8 at match ending page.
I'm not sure he's really +20 or not but this is really frustrating. the loss forgiveness system seems much too prefer the disconnected players so that can be used for AFK ranking. for this instance, the Bronze player got 20 rank (seemingly at least) by doing nothing. while we two Silver player loss 12 rank (hopefully squad rank give us 20 back but if not?) for trying to deal with a terrible jumping. and when i try to report him, I can't find inactive gaming option.
Here's my suggestion:
Make sure loss forgiveness system function well and plz do more on distinguishing abandon penalty. Like you can mark the YES button red when abandon penalty will trigger. (see the button color is easier to check the words above right?)
add a entry cost for Bronze to make it cost to inactive playing, cost don't need to be many but more than none, imo 2-5 rank can be good.
add detection to inactive playing and do some penalty to them. like can't get squad rank score. But I can't come up with such way to detect so sorry here.
add new report options for reporting afk. if one player get reported by both squadmates fot inactive (and if he match the inactive detection above), he will receive some penalty. Report system can do more than banning cheats or words abuse. In ranked match it can also used to improve ranking experience.
