Make A Better Store
I would be spending about three times as much if the store wasn't a loot carousel built around FOMO and gambling.
I don't really understand the approach. I'm guessing it makes EA a lot of money from kids who don't understand probability math, and people with crippling gambling addictions who just can't stop buying even if they wanted to, but I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't also be making a huge amount of money if ordinary players were simply able to buy whatever they wanted, when they wanted.
I find it especially grating because the characters in the game are so well done and so distinct in their playstyles that you do get attached to them. For example, I would think nothing of dropping 1000 spacebux to get maybe an emote and the music pack for Rampart, but with the current system I'll never have the chance to do that.
I just get to look at six or eight measly items that I usually have absolutely no interest in, buying the Battlepass and then collecting "crafting materials" to buy the stuff I actually want, sans the really cool stuff like emotes and music packs.
I think there are a lot of people out there who would buy in if they could actually get what they wanted, and I think betting on gambling (excuse the pun) is a ballsy strategy, because while I'm sure EA does make a lot of money on children and people with addictions, it also leaves itself open to both moral objections and obviously legal action, once legislators understand how this system works and what it does.
