Matchmaking & Other Feedback
First off, the matchmaking makes no sense as when I was in Silver, other players were either in Bronze, Silver, or Gold. When I was in Gold, they were either in Silver, Gold, Plat, Diamond, Masters, or Pred. Now, I'm in Plat, and the other players are either in Silver or Plat. I haven't seen any other rank yet besides badges on other's banner cards, which many of them have Diamond and Master badges, and a few with Pred badges.
From what I've seen, its clear that there's no "SBMM", because it wouldn't put low ranks into high ranked matches like this. We wouldn't get the top 1% in lower ranked matches such as Silver, and we also wouldn't get lower skilled players, (those who should be left in Rookie), when in Plat and up matches.
The matchmaking makes absolutely no sense what so ever unless its actually EOMM, because then it makes some sense. Lower skilled players would think they're "getting better" when the game finally puts them into matches they're meant for and it would keep them playing, while higher skilled players would have endless kills to grind.
Little does EA/Respawn know, this EOMM isn't how you keep players. You keep them by fixing the game's issues, improving the game, providing gameplay changes, listening to player feedback, investing money into making the game better such as improving the anti-cheat, etc. Instead we're expected to go broke every few weeks when a new collection event gets dropped.
If I haven't spent as much time and energy into the game, if I haven't bought the battle pass and other cosmetics that I liked, I would of left the game long ago. Epic Games does a much better job with Fortnite. The only issue I have with it is the cheaters and sometimes loading into the match late. However, I don't crash, I don't have audio issues, the servers aren't awful, etc.
Another thing about that Silver random on the team, its a level 28 smurf:
Not to mention they were the champion:
The Lifeline also acted like it was their friend. They stayed by Pathfinder the whole match and they both ignored pings such as, "let's go here". They ONLY responded to enemy pings AFTER I had hit another player or got shot at.
If they are premades, they're exploiting as the new rank system doesn't allow that much of a difference in ranks. (It wouldn't let a Rookie player join me when I was in Gold, so it shouldn't let a Silver join a Plat).
Secondly, I had hoped the game would get better, that it would improve, and a lot of changes were nice like the perks system that I did think I would hate when I first heard they were adding perks into the game, but its clear that the game is a sinking ship. Nothing would get better unless EA stops being greedy. Its also sad to hear that a ton of people had lost their jobs in the recent months at EA and Respawn, and then the CEO of EA was recently reported to have earned $25.6 million this year.
If I had the skills to create a game, making money would be the last thing on my mind. It would be about the game and the players. Improving the game and giving players a reason to play the game, where all the micro transactions would be completely optional, worth it, original, and not shoved into player's faces. But, I know that a game, (especially if its free to play), has to make money somehow and can't just hope players would buy the items.
However, I'm just saying that the aggressive approach EA/Respawn is taking to getting players to pay, (especially with the Cobolt Katars, and how its around $50 to buy a set), is not the way to go.
