- @Highresista Oh yeah, the worst thing you can do in Apex Legends is play with friends in a premade.
The matchmaking system will dramatically inflate your hidden matchmaking rating when you queue premade. This has been an issue since 2019 and there are thousands of forum posts since 2019 describing this exact same issue you're having. - reconzero3 years agoSeasoned Ace@BlairNines
This is so true. Game wants you to play with friends, then spanks you for playing with friends. I'd call it a design flaw, but I'm a solo myself so it doesn't really affect me. - reconzero3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Highresista Try solo queueing a few matches and see if things don't lighten up a bit.
- @reconzero but, what's the point? We picked up the game to play together, but the matchmaking is making me and my friends not want to play.
Why is this person in a game with someone with less than 100h of gameplay? xDDDDDDDDDDDD
- reconzero3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Highresista Just by way of a test. If the quality of matches doesn't improve, then at least you know it isn't related to queueing as a full squad and it's possible things may improve as the season settles in.
The problem is there's not going to be a good matchmaking system or even a better one. There's too many people smurphing, cheating, boosting players, there's also the problem with a lot of casual and legit players stop playing because of cheaters and smurphs, so you just get preds, noobs, and cheaters mix.
Matchmaking would have to put cheaters and smurphs into the same lobbies and stop pairing up casual players with new players. A lot of the matches I play, I'm put in a losing position, as the other two have NO idea what they're doing.- @reconzero The point is, we shouldn't be getting these people, because we are literally 3 new players with sub 100h of gameplay. What good does playing in a full premade is, when 1 person with 5k+ hours just laser beams you 1v3.

"too many people smurphing, cheating, boosting" - this is true, and yet it's always been true of any game that sustains a high population over time. I can't say (yet) that I feel like I'm getting lobbies made up exclusively of predators + noobs + cheaters, although I will say there are a LOT of noobs. But that's also true of any game with a steep learning curve (all games nowadays) and it's also a burden felt especially by veterans who choose to solo queue (definitely me). Still this season seems better to me than last, although I'm first to acknowledge that it's premature to say anything just yet. - reconzero3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Highresista Remember that matchmaking is more art than science - the qualities of your opponents definitely has something to do with queueing as a full squad, but it has to do with a lot of other things as well. I'll eat my hat if you persevere for a while and things don't get any better. It isn't fun to give matchmaking the time it wants to figure out your skill, your teammates skills, and then find you a solid match, especially if you're playing lower population playlists or queueing at off-peak hours. But it will get better. Maybe not good enough to justify the grind, but better just the same.
