"Snip3down complained..."
To be fair, this is an impossible situation. If a very good, top-tier player is going to queue with a novice then there can only be two outcomes. Match to the novice's skill (where the good player will dominate the lobby, probably single-handedly) or match to the good player's skill (where the novice will get rolled every single engagement). It's a no win situation for the players AND for the matchmaker, but I have to say that in this rare instance I side with the dev and the way they currently handle these situations. Top-tier players should NEVER get a free ride. Obviously they DO get them every single day in early-season ranked play, on their multiple secondaries, etc. etc. etc. But in principle these players should never be handed an easy match because it cannot but come at the expense of some other hapless averagely-skilled player. And there's no excuse for that. Not "I'm skilled so the matchmaker should give me random matching." Not "I'm skilled so I shouldn't be forced to wait for the matchmaker to find similarly skilled players." None of that b.s. Sorry you're so good at the game, Mr. Predator. Now get in line and shut up like the rest of us.
And here's a quick after thought. Snip3down is old enough to know that the way you handle that situation is to start a secondary. I would personally call that a slimy move, but that stops no one from doing it. And his easy matches wouldn't have lasted for long, but it would have been better than what actually happened. At least better for his wife. Not better for the poor schlubs he would have been destroying....
