Matchmaking. Why is it so bad?

Im only level 359, and I've only ever reached plat. SO PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY THERE ARE MULTIPLE PREDS IN EVERY SINGLE LOBBY.

Wow, a year later and people are still having this problem.

My 6 friends and I started playing Apex in August of 2021. We thought we'd try Apex out. Had we known that the matchmaking would very clearly be rigged against us, I guarantee we would have never started.

I have peaked Gold 4 (No, I'm being serious) and my friends have peaked Silver 2 (Yeah, seriously.) I'm the only one that still plays this game, because 100% of our matches are now Diamond/Master/Pred players.

When we started, we actually had beginner lobbies. But ever since I hit Gold 4, the game believes I'm equal-to-or-better-than aceu, ImperialHal, iiTzTimmy, you name them.

So, I will do exactly what I did, and what 25,000,000 players did in order to get problems in League of Legends fixed: Actively tell people NOT to play this game. Don't waste your time. Don't think you'll have a different experience. When Apex Legends loses 1/4 of its playerbase, exactly like League of Legends did, THAT is when these developers will finally start to listen.

@BlairNines It's bad at times, but not that bad. Are you talking about ranked? If you are in Gold, you will mostly being put against Gold players. There might be silver grouped with someone else or near Plat, you'll start getting some Plat players. Not at Gold 4 though.

You can climb Gold just by hiding, making it to the last 5 teams. Learn to control fights, start a fight when you have the better position or the drop on them, run away from bad positions. Don't fight uphill with no cover. I see this all the time.

@RaginSam thats not the truth, look here Masters vs Bronze, still possible :

Respawn makes you think you will fight against same skilled opponents which is just a bold marketing lie.

  @r1ggedgameLooks like a screen capture from a youtube video lol. When is that from? There was an exploit a season or two ago, but I don't think that's currently possible. I could be wrong though.
  
  That is definitely not the normal situation at all. It's clearly a cheat or an exploit. The only time you'll see the a player from the next rank is when you are nearing it yourself. So you might see a Plat player when you are Gold 1. The lower you are in Gold the less likely it is you will see a Plat player.

    @RaginSamthat video is rel. new, i guess march this year.
    And ofc it can be a normal situation, most of my games the sky is filled with those fancy divetrails. The game is very different for some of players, only bcs you dont experience that horsecrap doesnt mean its not happening ! Playing against Preds is not unusual when i queue up, would not bother me if they didnt match me up with the worst they could find for me.
    Yesterday for instance, got a gold 4 and Plat 4 as mates (same club) , and they landed straight with the Pred/Master team, they lived for about 10 seconds , how stupid can you be as a gold 4 dropping side by side with a Pred ?!?!?
    
    There was a loop hole if you quit the game at some point before the coundown ends and requeued it boosted you into a lower tier lobby , dont remeber excatly how it went down, but they introduced the CODE:SNAKE error bcs of that. It got a bit of attention due to a Top 20 Pred was using that loophole last year, so they had to build some "gate" in front, but the system itself wasnt changed, its a vital part of their matchmaking, so they just put some kind of barricade in front to bandaid the issue.
    Which made a lot of ppl think why it even works that way and what the intention is behind, some would speculate that it is a perfect solution to give Twitch Streamers a nice Experience so they could lure more ppl into the game.
    Just look up the term "Hidden MMR" in relation to Apex, rank doesnt play a huge role in matchmaking, its that hidden MMR.
    Rank only prevents you to team up with your silver friends as a Plat+, but easily will give you Silver4 mates if you solo q, i call bs on that.
