My thoughts on the no-fill option
I have been playing a couple of rounds today with the no-fill option today. Which sometimes doesn't seem to work but that's a topic for a different time. Point is, I have been playing alone a lot. What have I gathered in this time? That playing alone voluntarily is much more frustrating than having to play alone involuntarily. Because after having done this so many times in a row, it becomes frustrating to face the same outcome every time.
I don't want to talk this option into the ground, but frankly there isn't much more I can do. I won a single match after the update. And only because I relied on third-partying others. Which feels like this will be the only option I have for no-fill, considering my skill level. Tackling duo-squads is a big challenge and is usually a loss considering you're already drawing a lot of fire on yourself. So unless you have a huge skill level, playing no-fill option is useless.
That is part of the reason why I think that this no-fill option will quickly lose popularity. It will be nice for people with sufficient amount of skill, and quickly become frustrating for people who expect a solo mode. Because even though I'm among the people who would like a way to play alone against other lone wolves, knowing that EA/Respawn will never introduce it only makes this no-fill option all the more frustrating. Because it's the only option that I have available to not be bound to randoms or having to wait for friends to play with me.
I think I'm not just speaking for myself when I say that some people only want a solo mode for the times when we don't want to play with randoms and we don't have friends to play with right now. And while this option does kinda fill the spot, it's still not even close to what people want. And till this day I'm wondering why we got a duo-mode, but not a solo mode. Next thing I know and we will get a quad-mode.
Well, point in case... The positives:
- An option to test out things, find new places and see what kind of options we have available.
- A way to test your skill.
- A potential way to make good video content.
The negatives:
- Pseudo-solo mode which basically forces you to take the disadvantage over everyone else.
- Forced to third-party others unless very skilled.
- Snipers will become more common because it will be the safest way to eliminate duo-squads.
- will likely lose popularity, so queue times will eventually become even longer than they already are.
