@SolitaryMassacre But in the video before that, you are at the same distance and the Mastiff has a similar damage. I’d also suggest realigning the Mastiff hip-fire line when you test, so that you can hit more of the body.
I also get mine from experiments.
When I am strafing, it is hard to actually hit 100 dmg, normally I get 70-90. Sure, you might miss one and hit a headshot, but it’s more likely you miss more than one and don’t hit much of the head. Even if you get full headshot, it must not have a full 2x multiplier because it only does 143 damage. A fully body shot, with only body does 110.
Also, I knew about the hip-fire box getting bigger, but the way you said it before made me think that hip-fire somehow reduced your movement speed. You said “All other guns receive a movement nerf to hip-fire, why don’t shotguns?” This made me think that hip-fire made you move slower.
The reason a shotgun will do significant damage when pointed in the general direction of someone is because it shoots a spread of bullets. A sniper wouldn’t do that because it shoots a single bullet, which can only do damage in one spot. A shotgun has some spread, so it will shoot more a wall of bullets, affect a wide area. So, when hip-firing, it’s much easier to miss with a sniper than a shotgun, because the shotgun has a larger area of effect.
This also probably applies to why shotguns don’t have their box get bigger, as they have such a spread where the minute change in direction when moving doesn’t really make a difference. The spread would be maybe a few inches to the left but wouldn’t do much different. Such a minute change on a different gun, such as an ar, could mean a difference of a few inches on where the bullet goes and could really mean much.
