Pathfinder nerfed

Tell me how loba has two rings and can throw them basically infant but pathfinder gets nerfed to the ground every season. You shorten his grapple and make it 30 seconds to use it. What is the point in running him plus his passive is none existent . I’m about done with this game.

If I had to guess then I'd say it has nothing to do with gameplay or even with pick rate. It's a sign that his kit isn't selling as well as they'd like because too many people already have everything they want for him. So they try to drive the Path mains into some other legend in the hope they'll start spending again.

@reconzero The reason for Pathfinder's nerf was listed in the patch notes.

Dev Note: Despite a heavy support season, Pathfinder has remained as a highly picked Legend and often the main flex pick of a squad looking for rotations. We’ve pulled back the immediate Ult gains from scanning Care Packages which, alongside his Zipline Zen upgrade, gave him and his team frequent and safer rotations. We have also adjusted his grapple cooldown to encourage players to make more tactical choices with his abilities and seed the way for other Legends to step into his role in different comps.

"So they try to drive the Path mains into some other legend in the hope they'll start spending again."

    - Its possible, but I think it was just meant to be a balance change, (much like how they've removed Wraith's instant Q).

On the surface, sure, "balance" is always the explanation. But I have a very hard time looking at Lifeline, Nessies, the return of the buster, etc. and seeing anything there that resembles balance. Balance is just the word they throw around to make it look like there's a legitimate rationale for whatever it is they want to do at any given moment.

Perfect example: "pulled back... gains... which gave him... frequent and safer rotations." THAT is a rationale for eliminating Valk from the game entirely, not for nerfing Pathfinder. "Adjusted grapple cooldown to encourage... more tactical choices" means, when translated into English, "he's too useful, his pick rate is too high, and we want, as we said out loud, to SEED THE WAY FOR OTHER LEGENDS." From whom they probably feel there is a greater opportunity for revenue. Not for more varied gameplay. If they cared about more varied gameplay, as they claim, they would eliminate Valk, Fuse, Mirage, and the entire support meta. Imho.

@reconzero I have noticed that most of the good event skins have been for the popular legends, (such as Pathfinder), and when they buffed support, there was skins in the shop for support, (mainly Newcastle), so you have a point there.

However, I don't think removing any of the legends would be a good idea. They should change every legend to make them more balanced, (like giving Mad Maggie back the ability to break tacticals and ultimates with her ultimate), rather than nerfing the strong legends into the ground.

I already felt Pathfinder was utter trash BEFORE the nerf.
Why on earth would I play him now?
    His grapple has no range.
His grapple doesn't get 2 charges.
There is no semblance of Titanfall2 feel when playing him.
The Titanfall 2 Grapple was much more efficient than Pathfinder was.
I cannot play Path because I'm so used to Grappler.
Then again, I mostly play Phaser or Stimm. Yet another reason I cannot play Wraith because Phaser's activates soooo much faster. When Launch Royale was originally added, that wraith felt better but it was still a little slower than Titanfall 2 Phaser. I couldn't even properly time Wraith's phase in Launch Royale because I'm too used to Phaser's timing.
And Stimm? It healed, not damaged. And Everyone had regen. You could use it either as an escape and recovery tool, a reset; or as a catchup and execution tool to rush up behind someone and activate execute.
Double charge Mirage is sort of akin to Holo Pilot.
Still don't have Cloaker or Pulse Blade. Bloodhound doesn't count. Nor does Crypto or Mirage. Plus Cloaker was cloak not invisibility, it was only invisible to AI and Titans. Pilot Players could see a semi gray transparent area if they looked hard enough, or knew what to look for.
I feel like I'm forgetting something...
Cloaker, Phase, Grapple, Stimm, Holo, Pulse Blade, Amp Wall
    Amp Wall
NewCastle and Rampart are similar I suppose. NC has the shape and durational and quick deployment, Rampart has the amping and stationary aspects. Both technically have a form of the durability.
I'd love the actual Amp Wall power itself.
