Penalize quitters like RIOT does with League of Legends.

I'm starting to see what some people are complaining about now.  And now i'm forced to do the same thing myself.   Which is to keep quitting and rejoining a match till i get a proper team.

Its called "sync dropping".   Its what killed guild wars 1 pvp playerbase.  I've quit clans in many games over them doing it.   But what are you su pposed to do but quit when you are down a plyer or completely by yourself.  why waste your time?

But if you penalize quitting less people will be inclined to do it.  Follow RIOTS example.    Hopefully I don't get banned for mentioning another game company and game.  I personally don't like moba games and don't play them.  But I can't deny the experience of that game with so many people playing it.  Its what I miss from the good ole days of bf2 and cs 1.6.     Good people playing.    The more the merrier,  and better matchups and servers for all.

  • Maybe you guys are right.  I find myself mostly quitting due to poor teamates.   guys who drop across the map away from our squad.  or rude trolls.   I just quit and rejoin.  if I was forced to play with them I probably wouldn't play the game anymore.  Also would hate to sit there when my respawn times out.

  • @RichACye, I know how u feel, I know this *. I love to penalize this * too, however I am thinking about solving my situation with a boost since It pissed me off when the game receive an update and the higher lvl of the character increases. Since then I had some thoughts to have a lol rank boosting since it is a good choice for me and my personal time. Btw it allows to boost the character pretty cheap and you don't even have to play for it. That's the thing. So what are your thoughts guys about it?

  • Interesting, how everyone, who comes with the "brilliant" idea of leaver penalty in casual, mentions the League of Legends, which is totally different game and doesn't mention For Honor, that also have a leavers penalty in regular matches and is also an action game, for a change... but - surprise! surprise! - have a lousy online.   So maybe, just MAYBE the temporal ban as a leaver penalty in action game's casual is not such a great idea after all?

MOBA auditory are different people. They have the will and dedication to learn the rules, mechanics and character combinations. So they come with a totally different approach, and they come to stay. So I understand that for you, people who take the game seriously and try to get the best results every time, leavers can be a serious pain in the *.

But for the majority of FPS players, this game is a fast - yolo style undemanding chill, and leavers aren't a real problem. Does someone leave on me? I make some propositions about his mother and her line of work, and ... leave too. It takes 30 seconds (or even less) to found another game.

Also, in the case of Apex Legends temporal bun for quitters can drop the online numbers tremendously, cause a lot of the players are teenagers, who rage-quit all the time. And I've seen some kids with huge cooldown times in ranked, who just continued to quit.
So I think that the R6 system - leavers penalty in ranked, no obligations in casual - is ideal for Apex (and any other fast-paced shooting game).

    Two things.
    1) Curious how you feel about this topic a year later (seeing as someone necromanced this post)

    2) It would indeed have felt terrible if unranked matches got screwed because I wasn't allowed to leave at appropriate times.

    IE:

    • When my teammates abandon my box. When one of my teammates themselves ditch.
    • When the game starts short a man (which technically could be won, but is hard if that team mate is bad).
    • When you can clearly tell a team mate is going to be a * (and I mean outright toxic, with or without a mic).
    • A selfish one could even be when I am just trying to do my dailies or challenges and move on but can't because the one character I need got picked (which shows the bad structure of challenges being "single character specific")
  • League of Legends is interesting because it has become incredibly popular this year through updates and innovations. It seems to me that every second self-respecting gamer has spent at least 1000 hours in this game because it is the best MMORPG to date, including some platforms that offer the most expensive League of Legends skin and their prices that can be compared and found much cheaper the same product that is sold on the official website at three times the price
