I get that sometimes you just HAVE to leave a game, and it sucks for the remaining teammates. But I think players who often leave their teammates for no reason, should get a penalty.
Maybe just a decrease in XP for a day, like in Overwatch. But just something that shows that leaving is a bad thing. It's very frustrating to get left behind, and this solution would help a lot with that, I think.
The penalty they get is that they receive 0 xp from the game. Btw you can leave also if you feel you got screwed from your teamates leaving. Personally if they change the system i will quit the game. Same will happen with a lot of streamers. Just today moonmoon was streaming and the last hour of his stream was being paired with horrbile teamates that dropped him on horrible location and thus was dieing (imagine how great it must feel for 17k streamer to die for 1 * hour non stop due to terrible teamates that have 0 clue what they are doing and do not want to reliquinsh jumpmaster to a person with triple digits kills.) and was stream sniped as well.
So no friend, i want to be able to leave whenever i want and find a new game. No reason to lose my sanity over some randoms that consider fun dropping us late in a squad infested area with no chance of getting loot.
Forgive me if it seems a bit aggressive, but seeing your answer I do not know if you're trolling or just being stupid. I am disgusted with people who think like you and are terrified at the same time, that the smarter is definitely less.
You have no right to force anyone to play if he does not want to and punish him for not doing it. It does not make any sense or purpose. Maybe except for bringing satisfaction to mentally ill people with inferiority complex.
1. If someone incurs a time penalty, they will simply make a new account because the game is free.
2. The system will never be able to distinguish the deliberate quit of the game from accidental disconnect, so in the final analysis only those who depend on the game and want to play on one account, and not on several, will be punished.
3. In the current state, Apex Legends should have two game modes, including one that allows solo play, and it would solve the problem in a very simple way. That is not the issue and you are ignorant. The game was designed to be played as a squad of three and not dependent on “friends” i am a very good player and can win solos but it’s still frustrating to have your teammates quit. Please think before you speak.
Yes you you can get right into another game however that is not the point. What you are proposing and implying is “if you don’t have friends to squad with your screwed” which stands true but should not be a valid argument because again, it was designed to be played as squads of three totally reliant on randoms.
Leavers certainly are annoying, but I don't think that an XP penalty will solve that problem.
In five of the games I played last night (four of which were in a row), one of my squadmates left early, assuming they got into the game in the first place. Based upon the context, I don't think they left manually. I think they crashed or disconnected. I was pretty consistently in a team of 2 people as a result. Why other people have crash/disconnection issues and I don't is unknown to me (my computer isn't that young anymore, is it?), but an XP penalty for crashes won't reduce the frequency of said crashes.
Training goes over the respawn mechanics in Apex. How would players not know about respawns?

Add people to your friends list and play with them. Then they aren't going to leave.

Surely this game needs a solo mode, but it definitely does not need toxic dictators of your kind, who would like to punish everyone for everything and deny any idea.
There have already been voices saying that the solo mode would be nice, but people of your kind deny it using the same argument as you do not need it, because Apex is focused around team play. And this is the problem. Apex Legends is not a competitive game, but it forces players to play a team game with randomly selected people. It is stupid and does not make any sense.
