@s0apt0ken, while I understand your point, I don't think that any sort of plagiarism is OK. You need to come up with your own ideas, or credit whose ideas you take (although if you copied the main plot of a movie, even if you did credit it, in this situation it is still disappointing; an homage, as my friend pointed out, would be OK, but this appears to me to be much more than an homage).
@3enilly Havent you heard there is no more originality in the world. I for one think this is more inspiration. They may have used a details similar to the movie, but it's not as if theyr using every last bit of the film word for word. By your logic or at least what I'm gathering from it, if someone came up with an idea or discovered something no one is allowed to draw inspiration from it. Then at which point everything would come to a standstill. Back in the nineties companies actually patented genes. If that were allowed to continue then many medical discoveries wouldn't come to pass.
