Re: Please fix gyro and add it to more platforms not just Nintendo
I would really like to see proper native gyro aiming added to Apex Legends on PC and PlayStation.
I know gyro aiming already exists in the Nintendo Switch version, so the idea itself is not new to Apex. I think it would be great if that support was expanded to controllers like the DualSense and DualShock 4, especially since the hardware is already there.
At the moment, PC players can technically use gyro through Steam Input or other external tools, but it does not really feel like a proper solution. If you map gyro to the right stick, it still has all of the limitations of stick aiming, such as limited turn speed, deadzones, and less precise small movements. If you map gyro to mouse input instead, the aiming feels much better, but then you can run into problems with mixed mouse and controller input. It also means players have to rely on external software and complicated setups just to use a feature that the controller itself already supports.
I would much rather see gyro implemented as a native aiming input inside the game. Ideally, it would have its own sensitivity settings, separate horizontal and vertical sensitivity, inversion options, smoothing and acceleration settings, ADS-only or always-on modes, a button to temporarily disable or recenter the gyro, and proper support for using the right stick and gyro at the same time. Flick Stick support would also be a nice option, although even basic native gyro support would already be a huge improvement.
I also understand that aim assist could become a concern. Personally, I think a fair solution would be to disable rotational aim assist while gyro is being used, or even disable aim assist completely when gyro aiming is enabled. Gyro is already much more precise than a normal analog stick for small aiming corrections, so I do not think it necessarily needs the same level of assistance. I would rather have clean and responsive native gyro input without aim assist than have gyro added in a way that creates balance problems between different input methods. Another possible option would be to let players choose between normal stick aiming with aim assist and gyro aiming with reduced or no aim assist.
For me, this is mainly about having more input options. Some players are simply much more comfortable aiming with motion controls than with a stick, while still preferring a controller for movement, buttons, analog movement, and everything else. Gyro gives you the comfort and layout of a controller while allowing much finer aiming adjustments.
I am not asking for gyro to replace traditional stick aiming, and I do not think it should give players an unfair advantage. I just want it to be a properly supported option for players who prefer it.
Apex already has excellent movement and gunplay, and I think native gyro support on PC and PlayStation would make the controller experience much better for a lot of players. I hope Respawn will consider adding it in the future.
