The only time it doesn't fire is if you throw it close to yourself and it doesn't have time to "arm" I needs a second or two after it hits the ground before it is active

yap i know what u mean
but isn't it suppose to be work every time you jump on it ?
cause some situation just need to jump immediately.
if I throw a pad for 1-2 sec, run to it spend other 2 seconds I might be knock in last 4 seconds , right?
FPS game fight could be win or dead in per second.

Yes
that is why you need to make those judgements if the 1-2 seconds throwing the jump pad would be better spent shooting
- 7 years agoOctane's jump pad has to arm itself after being placed, you'll visually see it pop up and audibly hear it activate. After that walking through it launches you, 100% of the time as far as I've seen.
Doesn't matter what speed you hit the jump pad at, it launches you the exact same whether you're healing or crouch walking, or sprinting/sliding. If you jump right after you're launched you can get almost double the height, but speed wise it's still the same.
You don't need to jump on it, but if you jump AFTER you're launched, so you hit Space as soon as you hear the sound and start to rise up, you'll go much higher.
I'd like it if the jump pad armed faster, though, it takes a little bit too long, I think.- 6 years ago
Yeah, no.
Its 50/50 on whether or not it works for me.
And I give it the time to activate before I try.

It's the game mechanic, there are some small delay before you can actually use it. Respect the game mechanic and learn how and when to use your skills.
Wraith's Into the Void is not instant activate ? Pathfinder's zipline also.
Bloodhound's ultimate also has delay ( and yes, I knew about the glitch)
- 6 years ago@d3adc3II would you say having to deploy the jump pad multiple times before the animation responds a mechanic as well??
Well thats a flat-out lie.
Ive intentionally given it time to kick in and its still 50/50 at times.
- 6 years ago@LuckyCanuckLuke Nope for me it works neither and i throw it far away, so it can arm itself... For me it doesnt work at high speed situations too... Its really buggy...
