I really do want you to have the game you want to have, but I'm not seeing how you get from "Apex needs to focus more on team play over individual play" to any concrete methods for encouraging randoms to play more as a team member. I, as an example, have watched every YouTuber there is and I know exactly how team play is supposed to work. But there are people in this game who are not constitutionally capable of surrendering their own free will to the whims and poor decision making of their random squadmates. I would be one of those people.
I feel like you're edging up to one potential solution without either realizing it, or at least saying it out loud. I've been saying it out loud for years and I'll repeat again here and now: this game begs desperately for PLAYSTYLE BASED MATCHMAKING. It's been tried in other games and never, that I know of, met with much success. But from what I saw those were always failures of execution, not fundamental flaws in the premise. Apex needs an elaborate questionnaire concerning individual play styles and preferences, and you shouldn't be allowed into matchmaking until you've completed it. And then the matchmaker needs to weight those play styles as THE single most important factor in matching a squad. Not a lobby, just a squad. It needs to weight it far above skill, imo. I'm a relatively skilled player and I would rather play with complete scrubs who share my match goals than with the best players in the game if all they want to do is drop hot and try to shoot their way across the map.
I would also like to encourage Respawn to create a mode in this game that is not team-based. I know they've tried in the past and largely, imo, failed. But that doesn't mean it can't be done. And if it was done successfully then that might well leave trios and ranked with a pool of players who are less likely to try soloing a team game. Maybe?
Food for thought.
