Psychology of the Player Queues
I noticed today in queue for Duos people were popping on and off. They would get the queue up to 12... 14... 16... then drop back to `12. I was willing to wait, however many want to see higher numbers and this doesn't always happen in Duos. Nobody likes to wait at the doctor's or the DMV either. Waiting in line for a thrill ride at an amusement park is a little different. We know our place in line and that when we get near the front it will be much sooner to get on board.
A better way to express this without much change, would be to show the player their place in line. For example; I enter at 59 or 60th and and begin to rise up through the queue line. The numbers decrease giving the player a more positive sense to wait. Jumping out of queue and back in resets their number to 59 or 60 in line, while their jumps don't affect the position of those waiting. This has nothing to do with the way the queue functions, it is merely a physiological ploy of how the player views the wait in line.
I doubt Respawn has any motivation to change how the queue lines are expressed. I just think they could be viewed in a more positive light and reduce players dropping out of queue.
