My friend punches me when I stay still for too long, even if I'm just typing in the chat and it's very annoying.
I never got "randomly" punched unless I picked up an item someone had eyes on. Which I always drop for them, even if I wanted it. (Unless they decide to be a * about it).
Had a guy hit me and ran off because I picked up a Med Kit.
Another reason, which is why I punch people is to move them out of the way and into safety. Had a Claustic yesterday who AFKed right in front of the bunker doors and I just punched him inside so he wasn't an easy target for anyone running up from the outside.
So tl;dr, Reasons:
- They wanna annoy you
- They think it's funny
- They're seeing if you're still connected to the game
- You picked something up that they wanted
- They got triggered at you for some unknown reason
- They don't want you to be shot at
- They envy your weapon
*In my HONEST opinion, it be easier if you can "grab" and drag the player like it was Little Big Planet, but give them the option to break free from your grasp and set a block. This way you can drag knocked players, you can pull afk people to saftey, and it's a lot less annoying being hit. Besides if they grab you near an edge, they're gonna most likely fall with you.
My last 2 cent is to turn off the knockback damage / exiting boxes when hit by them. Allow the contract to still occure so they can still see if you're connected and everything mentioned above, but it would just be so much less annoying for you.
There shouldn't be any way to kill a teammate because there will always be that ONE kid, that *one* kid who hits your 123 with 6 arc stars and then run off into the sunset with your items. Or someone who just wanted to kill you.
I had people in other multi player games like Minecraft try everything in their power to kill me because I wasn't their friend and they were so determined to get me dead that they broke the block below me and watched me fall after placing fire below me didn't work. Since damage by falling isn't by teammate, it counted. But Apex, as we know, as that sweet sweet SWEET no fall damage. So like yeah

To be honest, I dind't know you can punch mates or be punched, until one of my random teammate punched my holo - I was Mirage and my hologram was blocking Wattson's energy wall. Few games after, one of my random teammate needed to go afk for a while. Thanks to Wraith's portal we've been able to punch him to safe zone.
It felt good that mates and me are able to punch each other in those situation.
I understand the frustration when it is used in the way you guys described.
As for friendly fire, it could be great to have such option for high skilled hardcore players in 3 men team, but for solo queue it is pointless.
cause that sofb took my gold armor thats why. =D
