I'll add this... I think Ranked should function as a "big tournament".
After a tournament ends there's nothing to do but start over. That's how tournaments work.
Additionally, there was a guy a couple months back on the forum who requested "hard resets". His argument was that he's ranking up to Diamond too fast because of "soft resets" and is forced to play against top performers every season. He stated that he would prefer to start over and climb through the bottom tiers first instead of being thrown to the wolves every season. I will try to find that post.
I helped the Pipeworks Studio devs refine their ranked system through forum participation for Prominence Poker back in 2017, which is still being played today. Prominence Poker is free, take a look at it. I love helping developers refine the systems they create.
In their ranked system, there is a "hard reset" every month and players are required to play "placement matches" to start each tourney. Additionally, while the devs were revamping the ranked system I started my own poker tourneys using the Playstation Community feature on PS4 until the devs fixed the issues. I created a structure for other players to use in their own Playstation Communities. It was my first time organizing tourneys and I had so much fun doing it. Some players (followers) were okay with the previous ranked system, even though it was undoubtedly flawed. The main flaw had to do with UI (User Interface) issues. I won't elaborate further. It took months to resolve.
The devs messaged me and thanked me for assisting them. Some things we agreed on and there were disagreements. My main disagreement with Prominence Poker is that the devs didn't want to compete with mobile apps and websites. Prominence Poker is the only free-to-play poker game on console, but their population is low because it's more enjoyable to play on apps/websites. I requested that they have faster paced "tourneys" similar to the apps/websites, but they declined. It is what it is. A lot of poker players on console, and PC, would play Prominence if the devs competed more with the apps/websites, but currently it sits near the bottom in the free-to-play stores. Great poker game though.
Everybody on the Prominence Poker forum used to give me a hard time. They never liked my posts and wanted to discredit me every chance they could get. All they wanted to do was complain about the RNG. Sometimes their complaints were reasonable, but overall RNG discussions led to nowhere. After the ranked changes were resolved using some of my suggestions the community was satisfied.
Sometimes players (followers) don't know or understand what's needed for a game to evolve. It's much easier to complain instead of suggesting concrete solutions, that may or may not work. Don't shoot the messenger'. Poker forums are intense, so being here is a breeze. But the devs liked my posts and that's all that mattered to me. I like to appeal to leaders, not followers.
Followers only care about the results given to them from Leaders.
