Forum Discussion
Seeing what is going on in Diamond lobbies I would suggest reviewing a lock on Diamond 4 level = 7200 Rank points being a safe spot from de-ranking.
From multiple channels (discord, forums, Reddit what not) I can see that people are just raging about the high number of incompetent team members (if solo-queued).
Also, this situation in many cases acts as an incentive for people to create smurf accounts - ones who feel unable to play at the level choose to play on a lower one because it is "more fun" = player can continue doing what he/she is doing without adjustment in the skill level.
In my opinion the cause of the current situation - huge skill gap / wall - is mainly related to people being lazy to learn, adapt and adjust their gameplay. It's like doing your work "good enough" as you start to see diminishing returns. In Apex terms it is not worth going into tactics, teamwork, angles, not pushing every fight, camping to a certain extent. People got the badge, trail and that's it, majority know that they will not get much further than that and games become "not fun" as they are owned in the lobbies.
Sadly even those, who say they want to go to Master level, still are trying to brute force it using the same inefficient tactics that made them go through Gold and maybe even Platinum. Or they just ask to be carried by friends who are more skilled or even worse pay for account boost - I am hearing that is a big business nowadays.
So to create an intent, motivator for people to keep the Diamond level, badge, trail, etc. it might be a good idea to create some sort of an "IF" rule, that would monitor player's performance and demote if it is sub-par.
E.g.
- If a player finishes TOP15 or lower X games in a row = as an indication that the person is unable to land safely and/or avoid fights if left alone/in a disadvantageous position
- If a player's K/D, damage, survival time or any other objective metrics you can track drop significantly over a short period of time - say by 50% during the first week reaching Diamond 4 rank - as a sign of either lack of ability to adjust or account boost
- If a player does not get X amount of kills/assists/knocks in X games in a row - same as above, indicating lack of skill or account boosting
I mean people who are good enough for Diamond lobbies and just have a bad luck or whatever will be able to get back from Platinum 1 easily enough.
I also see this change potentially lowering the number of complaints about matchmaking, given now it might be the case that we don't have a bad system but just a bad player pool which no matter what system improvements will continue to generate bad matches in many occasions as in the end system has to match also bad players.
p.s. of course this system would need fine-tuning but I am sure it will be much easier than say buffing or nerfing a gun or a legend as here you would probably have clear statistics on how fast people who are demote getting back to Diamond or visa verse how many demoted players actually never make it back.
SUGGESTION: Click outside deathbox menu to exit
No idea if anybody looks at these, but whatever . ..
I would like to see an option added for exiting out of deathboxes. Specifically, I'd like to be able to exit a deathbox by clicking outside the deathbox items menu.
I play MnK and I struggle finding the Escape key regularly without looking down at my keyboard, especially in the middle of a firefight. It is irrational but I tend to panic and mash other keys by accident or completely miss. I get killed this way far to often when trying to armor swap quickly in the middle of a fight & it is starting to tick me off.
My feeling is that a quick flick to the right and click to exit the deathbox for MnK players would be so much more intuitive & faster. It would be available to controller players, but I can't imagine this is as big a deal for them.
