TL;DRThe placement match system is brokenmisplaced players get to hard intensity games in very low ranksolo ranked players get matched with the duo and put against the premade triocarrying games simply gives no extra RP if not lesswin streak gives you premade master enemies, yet no extra reward for holding the streak or winning against masters, and absolutely no chance to win with pc-console duoThe matchmaking is straight-up broken from the placement games. Not sure it's for your player active time target or some *. It put me a diamond player in silver 3.I am not the only one experiencing this problem. There are constantly diamond players matched with me and have to grind through diamond-level arena games starting at silver 4.Whereas diamond players could simply slay through ranked BR bronze through gold with joy. After dealing with incompetent teammates, and earn yourself the win streak? You got matched up with premade masters, where your teammates are usually console-pc duo. After you carried your whole team to victory, you not even getting the most RP, cuz ur possibly higher MMR and certainly deserve less for winning, as your lesser teammate would gain more for doing little to nothing.

Bro I promise this is the worst of the worst matchmaking in the GAME. I get placed in G3, (consistent diamond player lvl 500). Sure, it's arenas maybe I'm not as good... Let's assume that's the baseline. I consistently get matched with < level 30, < 100 kills on their character players that have no clue what's up from down. My games are rarely enjoyable, and the fights are never even. About 1 in 5 games my team clean wipes since I somehow match up with two serious gunners. The other 4 of the 5 games I'm on the receiving end - I even got matched against a FULL streaming 3 stack of reputable players (hi Austerberryyy, mad chill and good vibes) and DIDN'T EVEN GET A THIRD. Arenas has a TON of potential. It is also the Apex beta test for short-format, non BR game types. Let's set aside the "console vs pc aim" debacle for now, the matchmaking alone is so atrocious I can't last more than 5 games before I get fed up of the same pattern of games. On top of matchmaking, the RP system here is ridiculous. I get no points for a win when I have 2, 3, 4 thousand damage and the kills to match all game long... Means nothing if we don't win though? This is exactly why the rank system in games like overwatch got a ton of negative feedback, and games with terrible rank systems eventually die off. I'm not the biggest diehard fan of the Apex BR rank system, but at the bare minimum it rewards players for sweating and getting kills.

I'm getting bronze players or even unranked players with level 30 regularly against diamonds and masters, it's a joke. +12 for a win is an absolute joke as well, this mode is completely broken, don't bother with it. I'm in plat 1 and i'm not planning on grinding anymore, it's exhausting and as i already said, completely broken.

It's hilarious how they're not even acknowledging there's any problem. But hey, they are fixing tapstrafing! Clearly a bigger priority than a broken mode which people spent countless hours just to see how broken it is.

@papahandsoapI think the problem is a few problems,#1 Arenas is not a popular mode to begin with because of the lack of objectives like points to defend from or bombs to search and destroy #2 Another Issue is what very little percentage of players that actually are playing Arenas is being split between Arenas and Ranked Arenas leaving you with terrible matchmaking...What I think needs to happen is to entirely remove Casual Arenas and make Arenas into Ranked Arenas period because there is no reason to have 2 queues that are exactly the same and both have penalties whats the point in splitting the playerbase between 2 modes that are exactly the same... The matchmaking should be better than It currently is but by no means will ever be perfect until they add objectives or modes like death match with multiple/unlimited respawns to engage the playerbase... if we wanted a 3 v 3 BR game mode we would just play BR

Done with this game I can never rank up because of sliver players and I’m in plat wtf is this. I’m good but not that good. Don’t even have ranked if it’s not played correctly. Juss makes more work for apex makers. Don’t make something you can’t catch up on. Plane and simple. Fun and games until a other game makers are studieding apex legends and they make a game more fun less lags and hit markers, then this game and we switch over and you guys don’t make money and can’t pay workers and apex legends crashes can’t wait for the other apex to release. Title pretty much explains it.
There is zero merit to ranking in this game if I either get a clean wipe or I have to 1v3. The matchmaking feels even more polarized in arenas. I either match with two serious gunners or two fresh installs.
Arenas has so much potential but every session I get a terrible experience with teammates that are level 40 or less with 20 kills on who they're playing while I'm level 500 and a consistent diamond player. This happens within my first 3 games every run.

I haven't even bothered trying ranked because normal arena matchmaking is just awful to begin with. I don't even touch arena unless there's a flash event or weekly quest for it.
I've sat in queue with 200+ players for arena, and still get left short a teammate, or the other team is short a teammate...
I'd say maybe because, out of those 200+ people, they can't find 2 full squads in my skill level, but when my teammates or other team have people who are literally new players to this game (yes, I know sometimes levels are deceiving with smurfs, but these are actual new players who look like they just started playing yesterday...), or the predator ranked wraith main who lasers a full squad solo no problem, there is a huge problem...

I don't think it's fair to ascribe Overwatch's decline to their ranked system. Yes, there are and have been a million OW players who moan about it. But no game is going to survive a two year content drought without losing players. I wasn't around when OW introduced their ranked system, so I can't compare them. But ranked arenas right now seems really bad, I can't disagree. I don't play arena at all, ranked or pubs, because I don't like it. Maybe I'll give it a go again if they ever get the matchmaking decent.

@pandareno1999 @pandareno1999 I would not characterize their downfall solely to their rank system, just meant to draw a parallel between OW ranked and Arenas ranked tbh. There's no clear-to-the-player system of how the AP works, and the ranks of your teammates/enemies don't even show up. I was placed in gold (Diamond BR player but sure, I don't mind grinding up in Arena) and I play against Diamond/Master sometimes and Bronze/Silver the other times. There is zero point to the ranks or the rank system atm and they should have held back on releasing a rank queue if it was clearly not ready or comparable in quality to their existing BR rank system.

Overwatch had a lot more wrong with it (content droughts, focusing the game solely on comp play, making it less "accessible and fun" for casuals with role locks in unranked and attempts to control the post-Brigitte metas) than just the ranked system.

@TheApexLegendNub I think if they go down the rabbit hole of adding more and more game modes, we'll run into the same issue in all of the secondary game modes. Low player count because most will still be in battle royale and every other mode will have 3-5% of the playerbase. If they want Arenas and other game modes to succeed, they need to rotate them in and out (to prevent player populations in each type getting too low) and they need to properly structure the game type and the matchmaking for it.
