Re: Bring Back Arenas ( A love letter to Apex Arenas )

@nerdistheworld May I just say, every word of that magnificent piece of art was delectable! I lack the eloquence too form the same degree of splendid literature, but I’ll do my best to state my thoughts and my feelings.

All right, I’m done with big words now, I love arenas. Arenas was the perfect tactical shooter blend Apex needed. The gameplay was fantastic, the gunplay was diverse, and the pure joy of beating your opponents was immense! Arenas was the best mode Apex ever had, and it came out of the blue in a season that continues to be a great on my list despite the hackers and bugs. (Season nine was a mess fr). I cannot grasp why they deleted arenas from all of apex, they could have left it in custom matches, or just put it in mixtape, it didn’t have to be wiped out! I find myself falling from apex with the removal of arenas, the game is becoming less fun with all the die repeat modes. The devs need to bring fun back to the game.

Arenas carried the soul of apex for me, I played it with my friends for hours in end and never once got bored of it. It was unfortunately neglected, then eventually removed, along with the fun of apex.

Please bring arenas back! Please!!

@BigMacAttack8u I'm glad I'm not alone! Any time I played Arenas I felt like I was in an ESports competition! That's how intense the gameplay was for me, and I'm glad you felt the same way!

@BigMacAttack8u arenas was a better mode for learning and bettering yourself before the big show that is BR. I gained confidence in the ability to shoot other players. I learned which weapons suited me. Working as a team became natural all thanks to arenas.

Enter the slaughterfest that is mixed tape and lock up weaponry with preset load outs. New players get shredded before figuring out the ever changing modes that are designed to help them understand the game.

    YES! bring back Arenas!

@snowsweeperMixtape doesn’t reflect the play style of apex, it’s just die repeat. It also doesn’t have the fantastic lore that Arenas does. The teaser had you collect holosprays to get a drop ship invite that took you to a far off land and introduced you to Ash. Ash from Titanfall, first seen in season 5 of apex where you rebuilt her. Then in season 10, Ash’s big holospray started glitching, leading to her release in season 11. My point is, Arenas is a central part of apex lore, it provides an integrated and fun experience. Mixtape has little to no lore and lacks the fantastic depth of arenas gameplay.

Also arenas got like a nine minute trailer and mixtape got an honorable mention in a main trailer.

    Definitely bring back arenas!!

i once was playing arenas with a friend and it was the second round when the third player disconnected and it was just me and my friend and it went back and forth of us winning then them winning and as it was getting closer to the end of the match and we where two points behind about to loose we won the next two rounds winning a 2v3 and that was the complete peak gaming moment for my entire life

  • @genrlapex I LOVED those moments!

One that comes to mind for me was when it was myself ( Lifeline ) and a Wraith player, versus a pro Horizon player, a Bloodhound and another player ( I forgot their legend ).

But essentially, the other team's Horizon was carrying their team. I could tell by the movements of her teammates that they were new to Arenas, being too afraid to push and following Horizon everywhere. Horizon posed as a huge problem, especially due to her skill with the bow, but I realized that if we took her down the other 2 would be easy for us to defeat.

Throughout the match I realized that my teammate Wraith kept equipping the weapons Horizon used in the previous round. So if Horizon used, let's say, a bow in Round 1 and we lost, Wraith would equip a bow in Round 2. Wraith and I were already losing, especially when we took on Horizon together, but Wraith felt like the only way to defeat Horizon was to beat her at her own game by using the same weapons she was using; Wraith and I weren't communicating via mic, but I was able to figure out her uneasiness through her ACTIONS alone.

SOMEHOW, despite Horizon being so good and her teammates essentially providing suppressive fire, Wraith and I were able to beat them into a Sudden Death round.

Right before the final round began, I texted Wraith via the in-game chat feature, and told her to stop copying Horizon's weapons. I said something along the lines of, "Use what YOU'RE good at, not what Horizon is good at."

Final Round starts. Wraith and I took down both of Horizon's teammates easily. Horizon was all alone, but again she was a pro, E-sports level of skill. Dodging her arrows was tough. Both Wraith and I were on our last bit of health.

All of a sudden, I get knocked down. Wraith was left alone with Horizon.

    And she won!

Wraith took my advice. She stopped copying Horizon's tactics and weapons, and started focusing on what worked for her. And at the last second, that's how she was able to beat Horizon!

Man, I miss Arenas so much!

Arenas were almost 100% controller players. 95% controller averages were not uncommon.

Arenas could have been a fun mode but unfortunately EA and Respawn have poor execution with their products and services ( in the gaming community )

Arenas turned out to be a terrible mode with aim assistance abusers. The mode is gone for a reason and shouldn’t come back

  • @Tspin I disagree with you. What source do you have that verifies your claim that 95% of Arenas players were Console players?

@nerdistheworld If I post links are you going to support aim assistance nerfs to balance the disparity between inputs?

I also have current statistics. More than 90% of Apex professionals have swapped to Controller because of aim assistance. There are only 18 professional Mouse and Keyboard players left.
  • @Tspin 3rd post today you have to make a post about aim assist and how it's apparently ruining the game. All my PC mouse and keyboard players love arenas.
  • @TspinIf you have a source that proves that most Arenas players were Mouse & Keyboard players, then more power to you. However, in my personal experience, aim assistance has been integral to my positive gameplay experience with Apex Legends. Read more below if you care:

For most of my life, I have always sought to turn off Aim-Assist any time I wanted to play a first-person shooter, or any game for that matter. It's been a matter of pride for me.

However, there've been a few FPS games I've played where I'd go up against Mouse & Keyboard players, and I wouldn't have a balanced gameplay experience. When it comes to FPS games, Mouse & Keyboard players are superior to us Controller players, because the amount of time it takes for them to aim and pull the trigger is milliseconds faster compared to us Controller players; and milliseconds can make all the difference between victory and defeat in a game.

I have tried playing Apex Legends without Aim-Assist, and I didn't feel like my reflexes during gameplay matched my button-input time. Turning on Aim-Assist has allowed me to somewhat balance the scales against Mouse & Keyboard players.

I also don't feel like Aim-Assist in Apex Legends is so egregious that it needs to be nerfed. I actually feel like Apex has one of the better Aim-Assists out of all the video games I've played, as it hasn't held my hand all the way.

@nerdistheworld The point is that people have put in more than 10,000 hours into Apex Legends on Mouse and Keyboard. Those professional players THEN swap to controller because the aim assistance is out performing ALL mouse a keyboard player in the WORLD.

    Let that sink in.

The best MnK professionals in the WORLD are rated lower than the WORST professional controller players in the WORLD because of how over tuned aim assistance is.

All of the professional player have swapped from MnK to controller because of aim assistance. MnK is NOT the superior input to controller. Controller has aim assistance which is incredibly over tuned and makes CONTROLLER the superior input. Players should not be forced to play with controller to be competitive. PLAYERS ARE FORCED TO SWAP TO CONTROLLER TO STAY COMPETITIVE.

Anybody with half a brain understands how broken aim assistance is. The developers of Apex Legends are neglecting the community and ignorant to competitive integrity. All of the T1 org left this trash game for a reason.
