Re: Can We Get Better Audio?

I mean no audio benefits aggressive playstyle and discourages ratting. As someone who hates rats, I actually prefer no audio. Fixing the matchmaking and bringing new mixtape/LTM such as three strikes are much more important than audio for now.

  • @Skimpp The game needs a lot of improvements and modes, that I can agree with.

However the problem I'm having is that I'd go from hearing nothing, to being knocked down, or hearing gunfire around me, to suddenly being knocked down by someone who ran up behind me.

Also, players are still going to rat even if we get better audio. Its like hair and eye color, its in their DNA to rat. Until the rank system stops rewarding placement, ratting is something that would never go away.

I liked the old system better, where kills and assists were uncapped. To get enough points, you had to have obtained enough kills or assists. It was far better rewarding and I rarely saw anyone hide in buildings or trees back then.

@Midnight9746 I still do think they need to improve audio but not until the point where you can hear footsteps when you are shooting or mid chaos.

"hearing nothing, to being knocked down, or hearing gunfire around me, to suddenly being knocked down by someone who ran up behind me."

If you watch pros or if you have good game knowledge you should understand that you should never stay in one place, instead, you need to keep moving so you are the one who no audio-ed the enemy. In the case of perfect audio where you can hear footsteps 100% of the time, it will be so hard to push compounds/enemies behind covers as they will pre-aim you. That is why I say no audio is not that bad because you will never die because someone pre-aims you before you are pushing (and it is easy to tell if people are walling).

Personally I almost never died because people pre-aimed me. It is always when I am healing which makes me need to stay at one spot, then I get no audio-ed by enemies pushing me. So I do still think they need to make footsteps audible during non-chaos situations or when the player is not shooting, but should not make it super audible otherwise it will encourage ratting in compounds/covers and people pre-aiming entry points.

So ya, balanced footsteps audio > no footsteps audio > 100% footsteps audio

  • @Skimpp Here's the thing... it doesn't matter how much gunfire is around me, or if I'm in an area with nothing going on, a full team can still run up from behind and beam me, and all of it, INCLUDING legend abilities and any grenades that they may have thrown, will have zero audio.

I'm starting to think its just a cheat at this point, as its mainly the aimbotters and wall hackers that magically have no audio. Sure, a large part of it is a bug and an issue with the audio system, but we got to remember that cheaters can do things like spawn in armor, make grenades auto explode, and at one point, they were able to use two weapons at once and even heal while shooting.

So, its not hard to believe that they may be telling the game, "I'm not making a single sound 🙂" and the game just goes, "ok".
