I don't agree with cancelling a finisher, but I think there should be a change to prevent you coming across this issue.
Firstly about executions - i think now there's a good balance of risk/reward with them. You'd be taking away the only con to doing a finisher, plus you come out of the animation after your first bit of damage, so there's still a chance to either fight back or regroup.
As for the door/finisher issue - i've heard of this before and it seems to be down to the keyboard bindings. On controller there's a clear difference between tapping a button to open a door or reload and holding to perform an execution. You dont seem to have this on kb/mouse. If you could set execution as it's own keybinding this would mean prevent the door issue.
