This is exactly what I'd like to do.  I can do it through the Playstation Accessibility menu BUT I already have a config for another game.  It would be annoying to have to change it every time.

Ping can definitely work on a Face button or R3 like you suggest.  I happen to like Crouch on R3 though.  (Puppeteer setting on Destiny 2)

This game definitely needs more button customization.  Take a look at BFV.

    My issue with crouch for R3 is the similar to my issues with Melee for R3, randomly crouching when you don't intend to, but's not as big of an issue as melee randomly popping out.

    Also, why the heck does melee take soooooo long to recover from? It's not like does any damage at all.
