Re: CRYPTO BUFF

@Sir_Named anyway Crypto needs it, it’s too bad using the drone and accompanying friends at the same time.

@ADM-REIxSUPREMO But my goal is to not make him op, just balanced.
If he didn't have the drawback from his lack of mobility, he'd be op.

@Sir_Named wondering what it would be like, I think this buff wouldn't make him that strong, I think he would be balanced, and the Apex team would make it perfect for us, because there is a wide variety of ways for them to work on it.

The balancing with an immobile legend such as Crypto is simple: What advantages do you hope to gain?

First of, let's count up what advantages you gain. You can spy with a drone that is in no way linked to your own health. So it can both be considered a third, independent eye, but also a distraction. You can reveal enemies from far away, up to 200 meters I believe. So that's another advantage. Lastly, the ultimate cripples shields of enemies by 50, and slows them down. Although that's more for the ultimate.

The disadvantages are first of all his immobility. Basically, he's a sitting duck and for this duration he's vulnerable, the initial character is useless and likely stays behind if his team mates decide to rush forward. Furthermore, he doesn't gain any other advantages from being stationary. No cloak, no shield, no near-field sonar or anything. Enemies could practically sneak up on you and watch you play your drone and decide to 'accidentally' drop a grenade.

Vision and spotting isn't as useful as you think. Of course it's good to know where your enemies are. Equally as good however is even just the approximate location, because that prepares anyone enough to be careful.

Little do people know that Crypto's massive drawback is barely compensated. Having the ability to control a drone that does nothing but spotting and an occasional EMP is the equivalent of being a character with a single Arc star with massive radius until you decide to show up yourself.

@Peri_Longbow_plz exactly ... so I play with all the legends, and when I play Crypto with strangers, my teammates advance and I stay behind, so if I follow them, I hardly have the chance to use the drone usefully, it reduces the Crypto's ability on the team, especially if your allies go out killing general on the map and you have to chase it.

@Peri_Longbow_plz Well, you are vulnerable while in the drone, but you aren't usually that vulnerable. You shouldn't just crouch out in the open.
If you go into your drone while sliding towards cover, or just be in cover in the first place, it is unlikely an enemy will be able to sneak up on you.
Plus, you don't have to search everywhere. If you are in/near a fight, you can just drop your drone in a hotspot to keep an eye on what's going on.

@Sir_Named but if you leave the drone simply stopped and scanned the enemy, the enemies destroy the drone, and using Crypto only in this way, leaves Crypto’s skills very limited.

@ADM-REIxSUPREMO Well, they have to actually stop to look at the drone. If you are watching them, you can use the brief opportunity to get in a good snipe.

@Peri_Longbow_plz That sounds a lot like sarcasm to me. Please do not resort to such measures.

Crypto isn’t 100% balanced, but making Crypto op isn’t the way to go. Like I said before, using one of the ideas mentioned would be great, but using both would make Crypto too strong.

@ADM-REIxSUPREMO I believe that a good buff for Crypto would be to increase his drone speed and maybe reduce initial Drone piloting animation a little bit, This way he can quickly position his drone and help his teammates.

@Peri_Longbow_plz you are crazy, professionals don't know anything, they only play defensive in championships, it is obvious that Crypto needs this improvement, and another, why do professionals not use Crypto in championships then?

The problem is, ever since I entered this forum, I see some people making legitimate points about certain legends, weapons or loot distribution. But instead of people saying "Oh, yeah. You're right", every feedback was immediately diminished with, and I quote: "Get good" - So in other words every forum ever.

I bought crypto not too long ago, and immediately found his ability to be lackluster. To a point where I switched back to bloodhound and I was actually able to move while knowing where my enemies are, just to debunk the overpoweredness behind mobility and enemy position knowledge.

Meanwhile, I look at legends like Caustic, and what do I see? Annoyance on steroids.

@Peri_Longbow_plz so, people want an improvement but are afraid it will be too strong, I think they have to improve, if it gets too strong, just balance until it gets good, I think Apex has this ability to balance skills, look at Gibraltar, before it defended 75 damage, now it has decreased to 50 and I thought it was fair.

@ADM-REIxSUPREMO A lot of people don’t think Gibraltar is that balanced now.
Plus, in the short time that Gibraltar was buffed a lot, he was basically a must-pick, which isn’t good.
It’s ok if they overbuff a legend and then nerf them, but I’d rather have it so that they’re buffed just the right amount and don’t have to be nerfed.

@Peri_Longbow_plz Caustic is pretty well balanced. He is only really good in the right situation.
I got Crypto when he came out, and he was my main for a while. He felt pretty good to use.
Bloodhound is well-balanced right now, so they are a little better than Crypto atm.

If I hear someone say "Legend X is fine and balanced", I also expect them to point out why. Because after all I have to provide arguments and points whenever I claim something being overpowered or underpowered. Equally should someone provide what makes them feel like something is fine. As long as that isn't given, there is no foothold to that claim.

Yes, Caustic is only good in certain areas. But there's still a difference between being good in an area, and being too good in an area. And I believe any legend with stationary abilities is well suited for buildings, tunnels or small places. But that's exactly what makes me think that caustic is straight up annoying. He just has to throw one gas trap in one small space and you're screwed. You can't see him, he can see you, you take continuous damage, you're slowed severely, your team mates can't reach you nor support you. But it's not about Caustic here, it's about Crypto.

And yes, even just being able to send him to places with the click of a button while in drone mode would be a sufficient change.

Caustic is pretty well-balanced, as his gas is less useful than other abilities when you use it in the open. It's still somewhat useful, but other abilities are much better.

Caustic is good in close quarters, but he isn't op level good. Many characters have some way to avoid it, or a way to counter it. Crypto has his ult, and his drone isn't destroyed by the traps. Bloodhound's scan allows your team to see the Caustic approaching.
As another thing, Caustic's gas affects his teammates too, so chances are if you are stuck, you'll only be fighting Caustic, and his teammates will be hanging behind the gas doing whatever. You can always just back out of his gas and find another way.

If, by some reason, you are forced to go through his gas, and you die, then it's not really Caustic. (Like if you need to escape the zone.) Wattson would do similarly well, as her fences will slow and damage you. Even if the enemy team didn't have a trap character, they'd still have a huge advantage over you due to positioning. They could sit in the safe area and gun you down as you try to approach.

Sending Crypto to a place with a click of a button would be okay. I'm just saying that it can basically only be that change, and they shouldn't implement the other one, or else Crypto would be too mobile.

i agree but i want to give you one advice as a crypto main. Follow your team first and then when your close to the enemy quick set up up your drone behind their cover or at a point where they may flank you. The drone also has other uses such as safely checking out loot. You can also use that to support your team. But i agree he needs a buff bad. I believe that his ultimate blast radius should be decreased a little and also that it should have no affect on crypto.
