Re: I did my "first" match with Octane today...

@Peri_Longbow_plzHe was already nerfed hard imo, 20% per stim is terrible but it was also a buff/nerf because he can stim more often to get away but in another way you look at it that makes him 1 shot... so 1 bullet hes dead

There isn’t much more nerfing they can do besides hitbox and/or jump pad nerf, personally I don’t see the jump pad as too overpowered and it also adds a fun factor to keep people playing the game... there is one condition though where I think players in Shadow Form should no longer be able to use Octane’s Jump Pad

Octane makes a slither of health look like an unreachable ledge of a mountain. It can be so close, it can be seen, but you just don't reach it. And you just fall off if you try to reach it.

As someone who prefers to play Rampart, it's more or less a change of pace having the ability to get out of combat fairly easily. Especially if you solo-drop, you basically drag more attention than a wallet on the street with 500 bucks sticking out. They will hunt you down and try to ruin your game. That's the secondary goal. Just taking your fun away. I had that a lot of times with Rampart. Sometimes I ran across half the map with a single squad on my tail who just kept chasing me. It's not fun honestly, which is why I put away Rampart for now and wait for a mobility nerf, or a good chunk of buff on defensive legends.

As for Octane, it's kind of ironic. The amount of times I saw myself dying already, only to escape with a slither of health, coming back and then killing the guy is just... It honestly feels unfair. It feels like an exclusive Wraith portal that only you can use. I mean Crypto in a sense is my secondary Legend. He's just nice to play with. But even with him I can't just escape combat easily. Especially not if the opponent can fly over the obstacles you need to run around or is just faster in general. With Octane this becomes a breeze a lot of the times. Of course, occasionally you come across situations where speed doesn't help. Like being suppressed and camped with the ring closing in. I hate when that happens.

@Peri_Longbow_plz How is it any different though than pathfinder being 1 slither of health zipping away to heal then zipping back into battle to kill the team he first engaged? Wraith is the same she can phase away with a slither of health to return and finish the team.

I could not tell you how many octanes i slay daily. They are crazy easy to kill because like you said they stim with 1 hp so they are 1 shot. There are much harder legends to go 1 on 1 with then octane.
  • What is the difference between Octane, Pathfinder and Wraith? Cooldown isn't a word for Octane that exists in his dictionary.

I have already stated my opinion about mobility based legends in contrast to normal/defensive legends. Their utility is unrivaled because being mobile and nimble finds a use in almost every corner of the game. Defensive abilities are only good when properly planned beforehand and even then can be countered in one way or another

For the average player it's more optimal to have a legend that helps them survive. Survival is dependent on a lot of factors, but primarily how fast you can get away from death. For every new player both Pathfinder and Wraith can fit this role. Nowadays Wraith is less of a hassle because you can actually hit her now. Yes, I'm talking from the perspective of a player who has normal aiming capabilities.

I used Pathfinder a lot in Season 4. Pre-nerf, a lot of my survivals felt undeserved. I'm happy he was nerfed to be honest. Still sad that Wattson sits there and receives only a "major buff" to her emote... Which is honestly the biggest kick in the gut a wattson player can receive...

Octane is fine! So is Gibby. More Lifeline nerfs, ty.

@CCbathwater Lifeline is fine. As someone who plays- and plays against- lifeline a lot, I know that she isn’t OP or broken. Her ultimate just gives you some loot. Balanced. Her doc drone heals you pretty fast, but compared to other tacticals, it’s balanced. Her passive was broken with the shield, but it’s fine now. Her teammate is exposed, you can easily finish him off. I hate to say it, but Gibby is the better revive character, as he does it faster and with more protection. Honestly, when I play Lifeline, I use my reviving teammate as a distraction to help me clutch up a fight. Which I pretty much never do.

Side note, what the heck is your profile pic, CC? It looks like it’s from the Sims. It actually looks pretty cool.

@Peri_Longbow_plz You know, I haven’t actually played Octane in a long time... I was maining him for the longest time but started trying out bad legends like Wattson, Rampart, Mirage, etc and I gotta say after switching back to Octane... I forgot how good he was I was running around 1 shot and never got knocked lol compared to Wattson and Rampart with absolutely no movement based abilities hes insanely op but compared to pathfinder and the others hes okay not the best but far from the worst

@CasensHyper She needs more nerfing. I suggest that she's only allowed to pick up a P2020 or RE-45. And maybe a 5 minute cooldown between shots.
I think it's from The Sims, yeah, looks like one of their characters.

@CCbathwater In all seriousness, I think a change would be nice. Right back to her old passive, 3-second manual revive, with revive shield. Maybe fast heals.
  • @FPShogun Well, the 'issue' is that I have zero experience with Octane and performed much better with him than with Legends such as Rampart, Fuse or Wraith. Frankly, Wraith isn't my cup of tea though.

To be honest, not all Octane encounters had been bad. Especially in an open field Octane quickly loses the benefit his biggest advantage and becomes a very minuscule challenge. But then again every Legend does, except Gibraltar who actually doesn't care whether you encounter him in an open field or not. So, it can be safely noted that Octane's biggest disadvantage are open fields where even his stim doesn't help much.

But this is why I tried to stick to places with a lot of edges and corners to make Octane excel at what he does best, and that is bringing up distance between you and the opponent player in a secure way. Which works pretty well in most cases, in some cases people can potentially outsmart you. Valkyrie can run away best when there is a lot of high places you can reach relatively quickly. Pathfinder requires wide corners to be able to grapple around them and into safety. Octane gets the highest benefit by simply being in places with a lot of corners and LoS-blockers (Line of sight blockers) - Which admittedly every map has enough of.

And as long as Octanes have even just the slightest opportunity of breaking the Line of sight and therefor incoming damage, and there is a sufficient amount of those things around where they engage in combat, in a lot of cases they become hit&run masters and can quickly outrun death. Which - of course - is his gimmick, but a frustrating gimmick nonetheless.

I actually rarely had issues with Valkyrie and Pathfinder getting away now that I think back to it.

  • @CasensHyper Fast Heals was my favorite part about her kit, I don’t think they will add faster revives because I think it could be stacked with a heat shield but a simple solution would be to make heat shields only work inside of the ring
