Re: Jetting off the respawn dropships instead of dropping

That does sound like a neat feature to add to the respawn system. However, I can see this not working well for a variety of reasons.

  1. Teammates who decide to go jetting off to a nearby area for loot may not coordinate their moves with the team and could land in an area with an enemy team who were on their way to that respawn point, virtually minimizing the enemy's efforts to defeat their team.
  2. Like the point above, the teammate may jet off to an area without their team and end up dying again to an enemy team who is looting or simply passing through the area.

If the respawn is not properly planned out, the squad will have to play the guessing game as to where their teammate(s) is going to go and that could spell doom for the entire squad if they encounter enemies in the vicinity. It's a nice idea, but it's got some serious coordination problems for players who don't party up.

There's the ping feature, and mic/chat for coordination. Presumably, those who stays to be resurrected instead of quitting are at least somewhat inclined towards teamwork. You're not doing anything useful until kitted out, so there shouldn't be much difference between dropping to certain death and misflying into enemies. Except, with a jetpack, at least there's the option of avoiding immediate death.
