Re: New season 22 / terrible balance / more cheaters / more smurfs

@Anubis_spirit995 Its super flooded with cheaters and most of the "smurfs" we see are just cheaters on new accounts.

Recently Apex came to the Epic Games store, so players are hoping that it means EA would get some help from Epic. I hope that both companies would be able to put forth a better anti-cheat that would keep cheaters at bay.

At this point, they might as well shadow banned cheaters to where they're in lobbies ONLY with other cheaters. Players who 6-12 man should also be put into this lobby since teaming is cheating. Basically, if you cheat in any way, exploit in any way, abuse bugs/glitches in anyway, use things like strikepacks, XIM, Chronus Zen, you're stuck in the cheater's lobby.

The game should also not tell these players they're in another lobby, so for most of them, they wouldn't even know they got sent to another lobby so they wouldn't think to try bypassing, besides if they do, they'll end right back into the cheater only lobby after a few matches anyways.

@Anubis_spirit995   Its not really playable for anyone of any level to be honest. The game overall feels off, (sluggish even), and I think that's related to the servers and the game's engine being outdated.

I wouldn't call myself a casual, or a try hard, sweat, (or even a pro) by any means, more so a competitive player. (I feel like I'm more in the center of the playerbase, (the center of "new player" and "ALGS Pro player")). I'm not sure about other players like me, but the game doesn't feel fun.

The season is cool and I want to play more, but when my shots don't feel like they're connecting, when there's constant issues with the servers, cheaters, etc., it makes the game feel overwhelming. I've been getting off after 2-5 matches and I haven't even started ranked yet because of it.

Right now, I don't see any point in getting stomped on by cheaters and unfair matchmaking. I've been doing that for 20 seasons now, and its not fun. (I know we're in S22, but S1 didn't have a ranked season, ranked was added in S2).

I feel its important for the game to be given back to the players. The cheaters, (and smurfs/bots), have ruined the game long enough. The game is fun to play, and players want to keep playing it, but they don't see a reason to play in the game's current on-going state.

@Midnight9746 At this point they should be smarter... when they ban 600 000 accounts they should immediatly disable the creation of new accounts. Let them go dry for months, who needs a new account for 6 year old Apex ? Seriously!

@MindTrick85 S20 was the beginning of the end, IMO. The cheaters and smurfs are most of who's left playing from what I can tell. Curious how long the death throws will last.

Steam charts pretty much confirm it is on its last legs, too. Player counts are about 1/4 of peak and dropping by the day and Respawn has said nothing about it. Just waiting for EA to pull the plug on the servers at this point.

@HappyHourSumwur Steamcharts are a small indicator that speaks only for a fraction of the Playerbase. Those 250K players missing isnt a huge number.
But a look at the Rank Distribution of Apex Tracker sites draws a more concerning picture :
Approx 4 Million Players stopped playing ranked mode between End of S19 and now.

@ComicBookGuy2727 If you look at it closer, its even more concerning ... its not the Bronze and Silvers, its the Rookie Players that vanished first
S19 all Rookie Ranks were around 25% of the Playerbase with a somewhat even distribution between 4,3,2 and 1 (5 to 6% each).
    S20 it was Rookie 4 26% , R3 2.7% R2 2% R1 1.5%, should tell a lot

"As mentioned in our prior anti-cheat dev blog, competitive integrity is a top priority for our team"

Top Priority ... took them only 4 Years to get a BandAid on Aim Assist.
Always a blast when Respawn uses the term competitive integrity.
Where are our input based lobbies ?!?!

@EA_Mako That's ridiculous. Do they really expect us to believe that spoofing Linux Steam Decks is a significant amount of cheaters?

@HappyHourSumwur I dont wanna go into the details since it could be seen as advertising such practices and i dont wanna earn me another ban on this forum.
But they have a valid point that linux atm is a cheat vector. It might be only 5% of all the cheating going on in Apex, but it is/was growing at a fast pace for several reasons.
Imho the right choice for now is to fight only on the windows side of things, you dont want the AntiCheat Teams workload off the charts.

But what i dont get is, why dont we get our input based lobbies then ?
Stupid controller hardware emulators would not work as intended in a MnK lobby that has AA and controller access turned off !

This! Someone had roughly calculated here that there can ‘only’ be a maximum of 900 cheaters and 2100 honest players have to pay for it.

Exactly! If the players KNEW exactly that this and everything else possible was being done against cheaters and the remaining cheaters, let's say 20% of all players, were only on Linux, then I could perhaps understand this step. Although it's pretty weak.

My view: I BELIEVE that very little is being done against cheaters, regardless of the OS. And as written above, cheaters on Linux are not (have not been) the main problem.

So I think the reason for the shutdown on Linux is a pretence. At least they could be honest about that.

@saurerDropsXXLthose numbers from quadeamador aren't valid.
he does the same mistake as everyone else who takes the steamchart numbers as the entire PC Apex community.
You dont need Steam to run Apex on Linux, you can also play it via Origin/EA App installed via Lutris or just copy the files of an Installation to your machine.
the only thing you really need is an EA Account no matter what, even if you connect via steam you have to link your steam account to an EA one to be able to play the game.
And if i look at a infamous Cheatforum Website and see over hundreds of thousands of views on those Apex Linux Cheat topics , its likely not only 900 ppl !

I get why they had to shut down the possibility of using Linux, bcs for several reasons that i dont want to elaborate in depth (bcs it could be seen as advertising those practices) , Apex Cheating on Linux was growing fast.

But if with that approach , they also have to follow through with input based lobbies, since the majority of cheaters are using those devices you could easily buy on Amazon to give their controllers an extra boost.
