@OldTreeCreeperOh I've definitely already thought about that aspect, and I agree that it's really only going to be fixed when the devs actually care to get rid of them.
As it is now they don't. They supposedly actually allow for people to smurf.
However at least with this, they're forced to get to a point where they'd have to stop and either wait for it to reset, or make a new account.

They won't be able to team wipe and get like 3k damage matches without climbing the ladder and because of the no demotion or points lost they can't climb back down and eventually it would just be smurf against smurf, while everyone else who cares enough to try to keep getting higher, will have passed them.

It's far from perfect and there will probably be people out there who absolutely hate it, but it's hard to make everyone happy. 

The purpose of this kind of system is to keep players moving forwards and eliminate some of the stress and toxicity that comes with a competitive gaming environment. 

Aweful match making isn't as much as a problem here either because instead of just getting points for winning, it's set individually, so even if a Diamond player somehow gets stuck with gold or silver teammates, as long as that diamond player does well, they will earn points even if they lose or at the very least they won't lose points or get demoted for the crap mm.

Really, the only ones who don't benefit from this is the smurfs.
