Microsoft just launched Azure data centres in Johannesburg and Cape Town, Surely now we can have local servers? Does anyone know how long it will take to get Apex servers?

As far as I know Apex Legends uses AWS and Azure.

My point comes from more of a logical stand. We won't be able to fill these servers 24/7, not anymore and no one else will benefit from connecting to SA servers.

They should have launched a server here since the first day, then the community would have grown with this game. The game is 18months old, how are we going to do it now?

Apex won't make it in SA guaranteed. Many have left already, 200ping is no fun at all.

And this is coming from a guy with 3 heirlooms, and more than 200 legendaries. I have spent some serious cash on this game, was really hoping they will give us servers. Love this game.

So to the rest of us, let's make the best of the Bahrain servers and try to get this running. I would really appreciate this, as it really is much better. India is also supposed to play there as far as I know. We just need to build our own community. Whiles this is happening, you can still nag EA/Respawn, see if we get lucky, but let's get those Bahrain servers up in the meantime.

PS: Johannesburg guys should get a 125ping, give or take. (20meg fiber), so definitely worth it, for now at least.

  • Making the most out of bahrain  servers wont work for vodacom we get 240 - 280 ping on bahrain servers.

Season 7 is in no doubt really fun and exciting EA planned ahead for 12 seasons in an online article so why such a long delay with servers our community should grow and with cross platform I think we will definetly grow as a community I know that getting southern african server would benefit allot of the apex gaming community in South Africa and should not just settle with bahrain servers. But you guys should enjoy 140 ping👍

  • Exactly , AWS is willing to host local servers but we are constantly ignored by ea/Respawn ,so much for customer service and satisfaction.

  • Respawn got into trouble with Titanfall 1 in South Africa, they never hosted local servers yet continued to market and sell the game here, and due to complaints to the local consumer commission, it generated a lot of friction (Yes we have a consumer commission, and yes they will bounce you for not supporting products you sell here.)

EA has always been awesome when it comes to South Africa with regards to hosting servers for their first party titles, so I imagine the lack of Titanfall 2 hosting in Africa is likely the result of extreme salt / apathy/cynicism towards Africa, on behalf of Respawn's network planner(s) or executive(s).

I'm fairly certain they're about one CCC filing away from having one of their games bounced from SA, again.

    Strange bunch, that Respawn.

Let's give them a week from now and see if anything changes.

The South African Consumer Complaints Commission absolutely has teeth, and are extremely quick to help you out, I think it's time everyone here put their foot down to foreign companies trying to get as much money OUT of SA without putting anything INTO SA, be it greed, or plain general apathy towards Africa, this ongoing transaction should include providing servers by law, you can't market and sell these online experiences with servers hosted on the other end of the planet, it's only fair.

Also asking that even though this is a frustrating venture, that you'll all be cool and civil with the EA and Respawn CM teams, it's not them making these odd decisions.

a BR needs a lot more players on line to fill the next server as soon as they die  ..BF5 you die over and over  in the same server so you don't need many servers  ..We have less players on Apex then there are Predators ..do the math .

  • I said Southern Africa, not South Africa.  And the reason the Bahrain server is dry is because most people are using the European servers. Bahrain has money yes, but where does it say we don't have money too?

Hello neighbours! Servers in the Southern Africa region would be awesome for us players from Mauritius (+ others around) as well. PUBG Mobile has SA servers on which we can easily play in the ~40ms. Currently we have to play on ~150ms pings on Singapore and HK servers and at times pings go as high as 400ms. This is really frustrating and EA + Respawn have a history of putting money first before customers and like to ignore issues (recent hacks + the titanfall issues as example). I don't think it would cost them much to operate those servers in the SA region.

  • Actually thats a blatant lie we have thousands of players... Across south africa there has been tournaments... Press even monster released their apex legends codes in south africa... And most parts of africa no one played on the baharian servers because the ping was worse than just playing on Belgium or London servers you had a choice between 300 ping on some random f#cking island or 195-200 ping on belgium or london servers most people left and have returned multiple times to see if EA has done something yet nothing  ... Ive played over multiple seasons and have seen south African discord servers with many apex legends players and those are the ones i know about...

EA just doesnt care about africa because they think everyone in africa are starving to death trying to reach some water while actually we have grown multiple communities only difference is your internet speed just because of sieges server in africa thousands of players flocked back onto siege...... Many communities want servers and just take what they can with games like Battlefield, COD, rainbow six siege and CSGO... There are many african gamers ive met from all over africa who play on Belgium, london and recently the Singapore servers.... EA doesnt care about africa because they think we are playing off some fax machine makeshift computers with a copper wire leading into some makeshift wi-fi..... Thats the truth most gaming companies think we are high risk investment and its pushing alot of african gamers to single player games or games with local servers ....

    Good day,
I really hope that this email reaches someone, as it is an email of desperation.
I am nobody, and just a single one person just trying to make a difference. If i don't take this chance, and send this email, i will never know if i could make a difference or what the outcome would have been.
My email today is about Apex Legends, it is not a complaint, but rather a kind request out of desperation.
We have been playing Apex Legends for some time now, since its release in 2019, we love the game, we love the way it is developed and is still to be developed over the years, as it has shown such great promise.
But we are unable to enjoy the game to its fullest extent as we struggle with high latency.
We are a community of gamers in South Africa. but we don't have any local servers to connect to, thus meaning we have to connect to servers abroad. - we get high latency 180 - 220ms ping- this does not allow us to be able to enjoy the game
My email is about a request for Local servers in South Africa, Cape Town or Johannesburg,- please have a look or something about putting in servers in these regions in South Africa- we have 10's of thousands of people who play Apex Legends, and thousands more who want to play, but they don't want to due to the high latency.- there will be a massive increase in player databases if these servers are implemented.- and confident also increase in, in game sales as well,
We just want to also enjoy the game, it's been 3 years since the launch, and we just want to enjoy it as well.- connecting to the other servers such as London, Belgium, Amsterdam, Singapore is the only way we can play the game, but at the same time it is putting you at a disadvantage, as you are playing on a higher ping.- competing with other players that are on 40ms compared to 180 or 200ms is not possible, and can get frustrating at times.- we spend loads of money in the stores, buying packs or skins etc, but you can't really enjoy that if you are playing on servers you have high ping.
We have great infrastucture, Fibre, Data Centres etc.- we already have other major games that are hosted locally, such as CSGO, Call of Duty and others.
i cannot explain the love that we have for gaming in South Africa, and to add Apex to that will grow the community even more.
I really just hope this email reaches someone who can try to make a difference in our gaming community.
Please, I ask you kindly, please implement and install Local Apex Servers in the South Africa region.
We even have a petition with over 20 000 people who have signed it, however people have started losing hope.- Forums full of gamers wanting local servers in South Africa.
If you have received this email and you have read it, thank you for your valuable time.
    Thank you
