@MaxGenPilotWhile it’s a nice idea, myself and a few others have talked about it in the past on these forums, and a major issue that was brought up is that it would be hard to make the drone face the right way. It has 240° of vision, which is good, but not the best with only a 30m scan distance, and so the scan is pretty dependent on the correct orientation of the drone.

Another thing brought up was that having a constant moving scan is not the healthiest for the game. Crypto’s scan is balanced by the fact that it has to sit in one spot and risk being destroyed. Respawn is already working on nerfing scans in apex, as they have with Seer and Bloodhound, because to be honest it isn’t the best mechanic to have to play against.

    @ThisIsYourMoment I appreciate the feedback, and those are all fair points that I had not considered.

    Reflecting on it a bit further, I certainly would not want this to be something that contributes further to a "scan meta" problem that is actively being improved upon.

    I guess what I'm ultimately saying is (broadly speaking), I wish his kit were just a bit easier to use while on the move in a rather fast-paced game - and that turning his drone into an orbiting UAV is more than likely not the way to do it.

    @MaxGenPilot Thanks! I agree that Crypto definitely needs something to his kit to actually help him when engaged in a fight, since no part of his kit, not even the tactical, can really do that effectively. There has been a lot of discussion on Crypto on these forums that I’ve seen, at least since I first started posting on here, and a few posts made myself. It seems the collective Crypto maining community (all 12 of us haha) agrees that something needs work with his kit.

    I suggest scrolling through some past posts, there’s some interesting ideas that have been thrown around regarding changes to Crypto. Look for the ones with a lot of replies, those usually have the best and most detailed discussions. I actually recently posted a (kind of crazy) idea regarding Crypto just a few days back, if you’re interested, but I even more so suggest checking out other people’s posts. I’ve read some cool stuff out there regarding Crypto that I hadn’t really considered.

    If I have the time I might link some good ones I’ve seen, but it’d be a bit to find them all. I’ll let you know!
