Re: Why can't my club be [GAY]?

I just don't understand why it even matters? Why do you care if people know? Why do you want to force your care to know on others? We simply don't care.

First off, still want to note that you clearly do care, or you'd have walked away by now, but I'm going to continue to assume good faith and respond.

Do you propose banning "AZNGamer" or "BlackNerd"?

How about "GamerGuy" or my own name, "Girlfiend"?

What about your name? That's your twitch account, which is personal information that I don't care about.  Can we call that inappropriate?

Why does [GAY] need more scrutiny than any other nickname?

Basically,

I think being gay is cool, and I'm proud of who I am and how hard my community has fought.

I think visibility can be great.

I know there are other LGBTQ people who play this game and feel similarly.

There are out, queer characters in the game, why is my identity reserved for in-game characters only?

@girlfiend Heh twitch is not knowing someone's personal life.... It is watching someone getting entertainment out of content. Nowhere do most the streamers ever involve their real-life in their content. Names are what ever you got your wish with your name. Now your leaping for that extra so everyone knows. It just don't belong in the game. Nor do politics or race or gender all that matters is the lore of the game and what they represent. It is about the game not you.
  • Sorry people, someone hacked my account so I just changed the password to regain control! I don't even play apex legends! Just got a tonne of emails in my account from this thread. Don't pay any attention to whoever this troll is.

    @E9ine_AC

"It doesn't belong because no one cares"

    I care

"You shouldn't care because it doesn't belong"

    I think it belongs

"It doesn't belong because no one cares"

    ...

  • @E9ine_AC  My club tags welcome players LGBTQ+ and players with disabilities because i try to be as open as possible. So if thats an option that pretty much negates your reasoning that nobody cares, but ok. And honestly ive always believed that video games in general are a free space where you can be who you want to be. In my experience yes, your sexual orientation has no factor in whether i will play games with you or not, but i also believe if you want to represent yourself how you want then you should be able to. Apex is literally designed around inclusivity and representation yet youre arguing that none of these things matter, like you dont know what game youre playing.

@girlfiend Unfortunately this post and its replies are a perfect example of just how toxic players can be and it is true that you will see backlash against your desired tag name, but i also believe youre well aware of that and desire to acquire it regardless. And you should have the freedom to do so. I believe Respawn labels it as profane because multiple clubs can have the same name or tag, and there might not be a way for them to monitor whos using it for personal representation or people using it for slander or as a slur. I think that might be the reasoning behind it. But i dont know honestly.

@Slender-v1 It is not me fully meaning people do not care in general. I mean this in aspects of playing a game. We play the game to escape the real world. Everyone plays the game for reasons known to them. A lot like myself with PTSD and quite a bit of other things play games to escape the real-life drama. I don't want to play a game nor do many others trying to be educated on someone's orientation.

I am all for it I believe people should be able to feel what they feel. There are also places I believe it should just not belong and offers nothing to the game.

This is not being toxic community because we believe the out side world should not mix with a game.
  • @E9ine_AC Your GT or PSN name is within the same boundary, your club tag also slides right next to that name. You're not forcing anything upon anybody, you're just representing what you believe in or are proud of. Nobody is forced to look at your tag because it only appears in game to teammates. Its not in the lobby and its not in death boxes or anywhere else. Its just a form of representation, that's all. Bottom line. You're proclaiming to being forced to know someone's sexual orientation, does that trigger your PTSD? Anymore than a gamer tag or psn name would? Honestly? Video games absolutely are escapes for a lot of people, myself included. I'm very reclusive and introverted, and i also deal with a heavy amount of anxiety and depression, and i enjoy being around people just not huge crowds. That's why i love video games.

Your argument just feels very personal, you state that none of these things matter but almost all games are designed to either make you feel something or give you a specific experience. These are stories and worlds being designed by people with different beliefs and views. The developers went the extra mile to establish specific characters like gibraltar as gay. Even though that takes no factor into whether i pick him or not. But they still did it, to be inclusive or just for representation or backstory. Who knows. But they included that representation, do you feel forced by the developers to be educated on these topics?

I understand you're reasoning but it just feels like you personally don't want to see these things or know these things, and that's fine. Don't pay attention to it. Don't look at it. No ones forcing you to look at their names, cant you turn names off anyway? I don't actually know tbh.

@Slender-v1This is my exact thought on why I make this argument why should we be told? There are thousands of fake ttv names out there. I don't take it personal at all. I play games to escape the real world. Not to mix the 2.

  • @E9ine_AC Im not saying your argument is inherently invalid. I get it. Playing video games is a form of escape. But i think the fact that this post almost immediately became an argument instead of constructive criticism is the reason why its an issue to begin with. Like i stated i think most people would use it in a derogative manner i think that would be the reasoning why the developers wouldnt let it be used cause theres no way to monitor it. But i also think it would be nice for people to just have that freedom. They fought for it in the real world they dont want to feel denied that freedom in the digital world.

So i understand both sides of the argument.
