@Sir_NamedIt doesn't disprove my theory, your statement supports my argument because this is proof that this is their form of "backing off".

For pathfinder + wraith if you back off to heal, you're still chased and you have that extra 5 - 10 seconds to heal up etc.

If you use gibby, his bubble allows you to heal a lil faster and acts as the "escape" mechanic because the enemy has to push to that bubble, you could easily go on the other side of it. with the bubble being 12s now that is more than enough time to pop a phoenix. Not to mention fortified and his arm shield.

If you're using wattson, shes got her pylons to slow down enemies and then you've got her ultimate progressively replenishing your shields, both deterring enemies from pushing.

Wattson, gibby and caustic do not need to retreat to heal up because their tacticals slow the enemy down enough by giving them that much needed time to heal.

Thus, my point on legends having an "escape" mechanic still stands as a basis for them being popular.

    Eh, maybe, if you look at it like that, but that’s a huge stretch of the truth to fit your views.

    But if you look at it plain and simple, Gibby and Wattson have no escape abilities, yet are still fairly popular. Therefore disproving (at least somewhat) your theory that the popular legends are ones with escape abilities.

    @Sir_Named It's not really a stretch though is it since the whole point of falling back is so they can use some healing items, gibby and wattson can do it standing in the same building and deter enemies from pushing in.

    With that logic, every character has some kind of escape ability. Which wouldn’t really work with your theory.
    Caustic is the same as Wattson.

    Lifeline can just revive someone and/or use the drone to heal up.

    @Sir_Named Escaping to heal up and delaying the enemy so you can heal up are the same thing.

    Why? Because after you have retreated and healed up you're going back into the fight aren't you? In the same way caustic and wattson do not need to retreat because their escape function are the gas traps and pylons.

    I think you're looking at this from the completely wrong angle, when I say "escape abilities" I mean they run away and heal up, this doesn't necessarily have to be a literal meaning of "escape", but that function is still do-able with caustic and wattson because 'escaping' for them is delaying the enemy, which is the same thing as phasing and grappling away because you delay the enemy so you too can heal up.

    As I said, that would mean that every legend can “escape”, since they all have abilities that could help them.

    This does kind of prove your theory, since if every legend can escape, every legend is popular.

    But, there are some legends who aren’t popular, (like Wattson in casual/low tier play). Even though they can “escape”, they aren’t popular. Therefore partially disproving your thesis.

    Either way, you aren’t 100% correct.
