@audiofilomx Yes aim assist is much stronger on PC than it is on console. It's likely that way to allow for players to feel more comfortable and have fun as well as compete with the movement skills and precision that M/K have.
Since they're bringing crossplay to Apex ripping out Aim assist is no longer an option. Controllers can't effectively track targets like a M/K so you'd be eliminating whole systems from that game mode. That's not to say that it can't be done, heck any of us can play this game with our feet if we wanted to but we'd be at a massive disadvantage by trying.
- 5 years ago@heme725 There's post after post of PC players calling for aim assist removal.
People just want a fair fight.
The problem is aim assist gives inhuman tracking that exceeds human response times. You can't juke or dodge unless the controller player is extremely bad.
I understand there's a difference in input, and keyboard mouse has its advantages, but aiming is 'the' advantage to end all advantages. If you land shots, you win, regardless of movement potential/looting speed, etc.
Which is why I don't support mixing inputs.
If someone wants to play with a controller, isolate them to controller only cross play. If someone wants to use controller with keyboard/mouse friends, disable aim assist.
If someone wants a pure and fair keyboard mouse fight, isolate keyboard mouse users to the same cross play section.
If I remember correctly, didn't FortNite even have a cross play input toggle? So that you could stay isolated to controller or keyboard only players? - 5 years ago
@4ccbf460f7b926b1 That's whats tricky about this. Its difficult to judge what would be "fair" when we're comparing two different input devices. Let me be clear on this. I don't believe PC aim assist and Console aim assist are similar in strength at all. There is certainly no inhuman tracking on consoles at least not from controller users.
I was strongly in favor of keeping controllers on consoles and M/K on PC. Lot easier to judge whats a fair fight when everyone is using the same devices. They've chosen to do crossplay and I highly doubt PC and console players will agree on whats fair.

@4ccbf460f7b926b1Fortnite recently nerfed aim assist on pc by 55% in 2 weeks and its pretty much ruined their game for me because most of the time it feels like the AA is completely gone but if they buffed it by about 10%-15% and made minor tweaks it would be fine, I barely even play it now compared to last season, the problem with AA was mainly for controller users on pc with 144-240 fps because its easier to track players movements but they nerfed it for everyone even users like me that are below 60 fps, I still do pretty well and it dosnt affect me that much except mid to long range with ARs but what actually killed their game for me was all of the map changes and weapon nerfs that went along with the AA nerfs I just can’t stand the new versions of the weapons and the new charged shotgun and its just not fun anymore
My point is alot of weapons in apex are also in need of a nerf like the R-99, Flatline, Havoc, L Star, Hemlok, etc and if Apex goes down the same path and starts nerfing every weapon in the game to weaken controller users further I feel like I just wont enjoy the game anymore because it will feel like an entirely different game...
I feel like controller players on pc should be queued with console users, mouse and key with mouse and key only, then if you have a premade squad that has a mix of inputs either you are queued into mixed lobbies or like you suggested mixed lobbies with reduced aim assist
Even with the current aim assist Im by no means an apex predator, some matches i may be lucky to get 3-5 kills and every now and then I may be lucky and get 6-10 kills but its not like controller players on pc have pure aimbot ive never been over 2k damage although 1 game on bangalore I did get 1963 ish damage - 5 years ago
@FaIIenAngeI777https://youtu.be/8HV1dcS_UYQ
This is the video of Fornite Aim Assist Nerfed that you mentioned.
I personally believe that controller should not be allowed for Competitive FPS (just like Valorant did), controller is better than M/K for competitive fighting games, cars, some RPGs, etc, but if Controller needs Software Assist to actually works on a FPS, should not be considered a good input for that type of game, at least on competitive levels.
And the main issue of this Sotware Assist is that controller players build all their skill around aim assist, and when things like Fornite happen, they feel hopeless and feel just like the streamer on the video, he realized that he wasn't that good, and with just a nerf most of his "skill" was converted to nothing instantly.Edit: and in case someone says that everyone should be able to play with their input of preference, i can say NO, in any other sport or game in real life, everyone is at equal conditions, any kind of assist is banned and punished in all kind of Sports, that's why i consider that aim assist should not be allowed on Rankeds and Tourneys.

You know what's funny, there's something everyone here didn't take account on: The Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends is confirmed to support Gyro Aiming.
which means, whenever or not that version runs at 60fps (unlikely, even if Apex Legends/Titanfall runs on a modified version of Valve's Source Engine), Nintendo Switch players might be the only guys on the block that may have a competitive advantage over PlayStation and Xbox Players, despite DualShock 4/DualSense has the same Gyroscopic capabilities as Nintendo Switch's. Not to mention, they may go toe-to-toe with Keyboard/Mouse players since Switch Gyro players won't need Aim Assist... depending if they want ADS-Only Gyro Aim or Always-On Gyro Aim.
As of Season 6 of Apex Legends; Simultaneously Controller+Keyboard/Mouse is now possible abeat buggy due to Mouse Input having a Movement Threshold increased. (weird considering Titanfall 2 doesn't have this problem.) If it wasn't for that, Controllers such as Steam Controller, Azeron Gaming Keypad, Gyro Aiming players (here's one video for example) and Mouses with a build-in Analog Stick (yes, someone build one) would've be able to play Apex Legends with Analog Movement if it wasn't for that bug.
Since people has mention Fortnite, did you know that Fortnite actually supports Mixed Input as an Accessibility option? Turning that on will make you consider as a Keyboard/Mouse player Hell, Fortnite already supports Gyro Aiming on Nintendo Switch and iOS but not PS4.
Althought, Fortnite has a Aim Assist problem. Most games that support Cross-Play tends to rely on Input-based matchmaking (PvP), forcing players to choose which Input Method to go with.
A simple solution would be allowing Mixed Input mode as a Accessibility option, turning that option on thought, will make you a Keyboard/Mouse player in the process and all types of Aim Assist will be disabled, but you would be able to play on PC Platform players.
If Nintendo Switch version can have Gyro Aiming, then so can PC Players via Mixed Input. - 5 years ago@AL2009man So now that crossplay is out, I was reading this & am somewhat confused. Has Apex Legends EVER supported simultaneous input on ANY platform?
@YTxGalaxyAs far as I know, only PC supports it (As of Season 6), but it is buggy right now. At least was the last time I played Apex Legends.
(quick correction: Technically, Cross-Play is in BETA Testing phase when it comes out in October 6th) - 5 years ago@StonedPineapples If aim assist is truly overpowered how come I die instantly in 90% of my matches, I may get an odd game here and there where I get lucky and get a few kills but for the most part my matches consist of me queueing into a game, landing, getting knocked, rage quitting, queueing into a match, landing, getting knocked, rage quitting, on a loop lol

well I'm talking about to completive play 3.0 kd

It's really no fun anymore ... you can't even be proud of your own achievements anymore.
Crossplay & Aim Assist should be able to be switched off, it is embarrassing that something like Aim Assist is even offered by respawn on the PC! - 5 years ago@Tom0ve Mouse and keyboard have superior mid-long range aim aim and movement mechanics, as a controller user it requires a ton of skill to be able to land your shots I have played on mouse and keyboard many times and its as simple as moving your mouse to where you want it to go... on a controller its always too far or not enough which is where aim assist comes into play
- Tom0ve5 years agoLegend
@TheApexLegendNub
I know ... who is asking?
Aim Assist doesn't care about poor visibility and noise, even recoil is with Aim Assist much easyer to handle!
That's why I keep seeing pc gamers being treated unfairly.
PC gamers need their own lobby, no further discussion.
@VaultTheHavoc
It's ridiculous how unfriendly these console kids get constantly, just because they don't want to hear about Aim Assist, just keep playing on your telly and don't interfere here, this is about the PC lobby! - 5 years ago
@Tom0veWe get unfriendly because its honestly annoying listening to mouse and keyboard players cry like babies every single day about ‘’aimbot’’ no matter what game it is
i like how your calling me ‘’unfriendly’’ when you obviously said ‘’i know...who is asking?’’ like nobody cares and my opinion doesn't matter
- 5 years ago
This is about pc players not being forced to play with bs aim assist, why should your opinion matter, if you don't play on pc?
@Irres169I don’t know... maybe because this is a general feedback forum and my opinion matters just as much as everyone else's? 🙂
Why ask rude questions? For your information I do play on a pc, Steam to be exact - 5 years ago
There was nothing rude about the question, just the topic is about pc lobbies.
You seem angry and like you just want to argue so go ahead...but literally you are in the wrong topic.
Consoles can opt out of playing with pc, but not the other way around?
@Irres169it doesn’t matter if they give you the option to disable crossplay or not, it won’t change the fact that you are still forced to play against players like me who choose to play with a controller on pc
Regardless, I highly doubt the number of mouse and keyboard players who actually take the time to disable crossplay will be enough to fill lobbies with a distributed fair playing field, most people will just keep queueing into crossplay lobbies while you will be stuck waiting in the lobby for 5+ minutes to get into a match like we did before crossplay was added
The addition of crossplay has added more positives than negatives, atleast from my perspective as a ‘’casual’’ player. I can’t say the same for people playing against Diamond and up opponents every single match - 5 years ago@TheApexLegendNub i have a bunch of clips of me being lasered by controller players and when i do get lasered im right a lot of the time when i guess theyre on controller before i see their banner. ive played in diamond lobbies a lot with top 100 preds. they DONT laser me like you controller players do. I have every right to complain. I get trash controller player after controller player on my team in ranked. i shouldnt get handicapped like that. its BS
- 5 years ago
@Tperodactyl The issue is what you're describing isn't common on consoles at all. Sounds like you're dealing with hackers, mods, or maybe something that PC controller players can do but not console.
I agree with separating systems because console players are happy not to deal with the BS accuracy of a mouse at range.
I don't know if @TheApexLegendNub turned this into a discussion of what console players can do (which is what makes our opinion relevant @Irres169 ) but if this is purely about PC wanting to axe crossplay then we should stay out of it.
Open up the discussion about what console players can unfairly do and you're basically inviting our opinion back in.

@Tom0veLast Time I checked the FAQ; you guys DO have your own lobby.
The way how Apex Legends work is Platform-based Cross-Play Matchmaking. PlayStation, Xbox and soon Nintendo (which, it will have Gyro Aiming) will play with each other, while PC will play against other PC Players.
If a PC player is in Party alongside with a Console Player (NOT to be confused with Controller Player); they will be put into a PC Matchmaking. - 5 years ago
@TheApexLegendNubI can do the same thing with Gyro Aiming. As in: Mapping the DualShock 4/DualSense/Nintendo Switch Controller's Gyroscopic Sensors as a Mouse Input.
the downside is that Apex Legends doesn't like Simultaneous Controller/Keyboard+Mouse, so I either have to bind my Controller as if it's a Keyboard/Mouse or only Mode Shift to Keyboard/Mouse for Aiming-only.
Since the Nintendo Switch version is coming soon, they will have the same ability as I do (if they enable that option), as Gyro Aiming is natively supported there.
edit: and before you asked some proof, I got two gameplay footages I would share. - Tom0ve5 years agoLegend@AL2009man
What you fighting for here?
PC Gamers can't turn off Crossplay... i have to fight agains Console Players, they connect with our Server, it's just terrifying.
PC players who use a controller are allowed to be forced to use the crossplay server!
All i want is a match with fair conditions, every enemy only uses mouse & keyboard without any assistant! - 5 years ago
@Tom0veConsoles players are supposed to enter a PC-centric Match if they happen to be in a Party with a PC User. (that's probably why you fought against a Console Player.) The FAQ made that pretty clear, and I'm going to copy-paste two of the paragraths from the FAQ.
Before cross-play, each platform would only play with and against other users on the same platform. Now, all console players will play together, and PC players will continue to play only with other PC players.
If, however, an Xbox One or Playstation 4 player and PC player party up together, they will be put into PC matches. This ensures that the console games don’t have PC players in them, but still allows for the console player to play with their PC friend if they opt-in.
If you believe that's not true, you can back that up with your evidence (like leaving a link, screenshot or a video clip).
you can also verify that by looking at a Player's Cross-Play symbol (PC's symbol is a Screen and PC Tower). I consistently see that symbol when a player defeats me, and I have yet to be defeated by a Console Player.
Even if [PC Players] gained the ability to turn off Cross-Play again, you still going to deal with Controller Players (with Aim Assist turned on by default) unless Respawn made it Input-only Matchmaking, which PC Controller Players can still play with Keyboard/Mouse players via Input Mappers (but losing Aim Assist in the process, for non-traditional gamepads like Steam Controller, it won't matter to them)
So yeah, I'm mostly fighting for here because I'm correcting you. - Tom0ve5 years agoLegend
Holy... I know that FAQ... i know why we play on Crossplay Server!
Where did i ask? Where did I wrote something wrong for your correction?
Dude... this whole Game feels more and more destroyed, since we PC Gamers are forced to this Crossplay Server, i have tons of problems.
Just Yesterday my Ping rise up while a Match from ~30ms to ~120ms, unplayable lags started.
After some Minutes it turned back to ~30ms again, my mates feel the same... so this Crossplay Server Story overall is a big fail from the beginning, just when they put in Crossplay, I had to turn it off, and without this "server chaos" it runs much better!
So I don't know what you want to tell me at the End... this Crossplay is Cancer for Apex on PC.
PC Controller = no Aim Assist allowed⚫
Until they separate the M&K and Controller Lobby!
